Myself and Big Mike played yesterday( Friday) on his Airport table. Also to test out Mikes Army and my "newly" painted tanks.
I won a hard fought 15 days to war, very close. So level 1 incursion. We both suffered from low dice scores at the wrong time. But I also had some good ones. Loads of doubles as well.
So I proceeded to attack, but "sgt Gavey and Red Troop" we're very Tardy, so I ended up digging them in on the first Objective. Mike did try taking it back. This is where I lost my only troops.
My new acquired tanks from the British War reserve came on a flank road to help take another objective, but some sneaky Mercenary RPG took out my Centurion. I never did get his dug out Militia Mercenary force out.
But on the airfield a different matter. I kept sniping at his troops  in the control tower with my A/cars and Red Troop heavy weapons. Then I successfully called in an Artillery strike, and even with his General there they still ran off ! Then his General went to Rally another force of Militia to re occupy the Control Tower but I managed to bring an Airstrike down on them while they were crossing the open ground. So they ran off....
Then I managed to get my (glorious)militia Technicals over to the Tower and step in. On their way there they took out one light helicopter that was trying to harass them, then blimey another one turned up.
But that withstanding the glorious militia troops got out to take the Tower.
A good day for that invading Mercenary army to die.

Sounds like it was chaos all round! And that table looks amazing. Can't wait to see it on the day😁

Big Mike

A good game and a well deserved win for Miles. Plenty of good battle experience for The Wild Geese.
The Airport Game set-up worked well and I will post a summary shortly.

News is again starting to filter out from Logosia.

Reports state that Papa Whisky has redesigned the national flag. It now reflects the traditional African colours, with a nod to both the French tricolore and the national animal.

Further intelligence - including some recent photographs of army manoeuvres - are hoped for soon.

ATTACK REPELLED - REBELS DEFEATED

ZUMO NEWS NETWORK EARLY EVENING BULLETIN

This is the news. I'm Norman Patsy.

Drama unfolded this morning as terrorists attacked a Campaign Alliance Levy convoy transporting soldiers through Western Province to guard the newly nationalised PETROZUM-owned oil drilling zone. The rebels, dressed in plain clothes and carrying rifles and grenades, tried to ambush the column at a bend in the road. No doubt expecting the same success as when a similar bloodthirsty attack was carried out on raw recruits near Port Elizabeth in Northern Province recently, the terrorists soon found out the hard way that fully-trained CAL troops will always win against thugs like these.

The only good terrorist...is a dead terrorist.

The expert CAL Regulars swiftly leapt into action, deploying from their trucks and hunting down the rebels using rifle fire and the awesome power of two Quad Maxim anti-aircraft guns. The guns, recently acquired by the Ministry of Defence from an unnamed Russian source, are effectively four heavy machine-guns fixed on a large tripod - they can pour countless bullets skyward to destroy helicopters and low-flying aircraft, and are also devastating in the anti-infantry role. The better skills and equipment of the soldiers won out, and the mob withdrew in disarray, leaving behind only bodies.

Awesome power.

Our Nation's Prime Automatic Weapons Enthusiast and Field Marshal of the Campaign Alliance Levy, General Stevo Leeroy, announced the news in a brief press conference this afternoon from the Defence Ministry buildings in Zumbumbo. Flanked with the national flag and accompanied by a model of the Quad Maxim anti-aircraft gun, he spoke of the famous victory; "...this is a fine day indeed for democracy and for the safety of our nation; our troops were ambushed and fought back well, seventeen of these thugs are dead and rightly so. Outrages such as this will not be tolerated in Zumo; the CAL will hunt down and terminate dissident elements conducting acts of terrorism, and I give my solemn vow that our nation will remain peaceful and safe. And maybe our nation's funeral directors will be able to make a few shekels, eh!" the General laughed.

Mo' problems, mo' money

It is unknown what this attack means longer-term; despite isolated violence - and the lamentable recent Fort Elizabeth Massacre - President Bernard Dairey continues to carefully steer Zumo on a prudent and peaceable course and is leading a coalition government with representatives from many parts of our nation. He uses his experience and guile to keep our country largely free from violence and terror, and as we have seen today when this fails our CAL armed forces stand ready to step in. Let us hope that this continues.

We are glad of the wise and benevolent leadership of our beloved President

Now in Sport - today saw the return of darts to Zumo, with the first round matches in the Hatzbrohe Classic taking place at the Lange-Schlange Physical Activity Centre in the city of Hatzbrohe. Local favourite Denzil Ndolesha won his first match with ease, and he faces Dutchman Klaas van der Klaas in the second round. Good luck Denzil!

A nation expects

That was the news. I'm Colin Patsy. We'll see you later for the ZNN Late Night bulletin - stay tuned to Zumo News Network, for the only news in Zumo you can really trust!

DAIREY GETS TOUGH ON TERROR

ZUMO NEWS NETWORK NEWSFLASH

I'm Colin Placeman for Zumo News Network, and I interrupt the scheduled broadcasting to bring you a ZNN Newsflash. President Bernard Dairey has called an emergency press conference on the recent terrorist attacks that have been plaguing our nation, and we go live now to the capital to hear him speak:

Our President lays it on the line - the thugs can be in no doubt

"For far too long the peaceful nation of Zumo has been beset by terrorism and insurgency, and it has become increasingly clear in recent months that the rogue state of uMbongo under the presidency of the maverick Chumbowumbo is funding and resourcing many of these attacks, as well as providing a safe haven for the criminals once they have carried out their heinous work. Today we are able to share irrefutable photographic evidence that proves uMbongolese complicity in this activity.

Chumbowumbo either cannot or will not prevent this; we have clear evidence of uMbongolese involvement in these atrocities and in the absence of any support from the UN or the African Union, we have no alternative - and every right! - to defend our borders from the destabilising incursions. The nation of Zumo will therefore be deploying a force outside its borders for the first time ever in order to attack and destroy the terrorist rats in their uMbongo nest; the Campaign Alliance Levy forces are being mobilised and will be transiting shortly.

The government of uMbongo has the opportunity here and now to de-escalate tensions and commit to preventing the terrorist attacks, and we would welcome opportunities to discuss and work together. I call upon Dr Chumbowumbo to engage positively and whole-heartedly with our request. However if this opportunity is not taken, be assured that the rascals and lackeys of uMbongo will feel the irresistible force of our nation's awesome military might! And if this should come to pass, know that Chumbowumbo will surely get knocked down. And he won't get up again - and this is not mere tub-thumping."

It is unclear whether the uMbongolese government will take the President's generous offer of talks to try and jointly resolve the situation, however what is very clear is both that Chumbowumbo is enabling these attacks and that our brave military is ready and prepared to take all steps necessary to ensure peace and security in Zumo.

How do you explain THIS then, Dr Chumbowumbo?

I'm Colin Placeman, for ZNN. And now back to today's scheduled programme, the network premiere of Zumo's very own Little Mulubwa on Ice! Join Little Mulubwa on his voyage from the jungles to the big city as he meets new friends and follows his dream. Featuring award-winning international figure skaters, Little Mulubwa On Ice is a true extravaganza, a show to delight the whole family - and it's coming up next, only on ZNN!

Never know, things in Zumo might have escalated even further by the weekend so we may see another report...

Sean Clark

I do hope so. Chombo's speech writers are working on a reply!
