LOL

Will have to sort out that game session sometime soon then. To iron out my total misconceptions of the rules.

I'm hoping we get even numbers so that I can concentrate on war correspondent duties but if I play, I'll still get around and take plenty of pictures. A full report will be written for the Peter Pig in house magazine, The Mill.

Here's a suggestion why don't the players take pictures of there own armies and games, Sean could start a "Photos from the game day" topic where they can be posted and harvested from for his article.

Best wishes,
Martin Buck

This is an excellent idea from Martin.

Got my tanks well on the way. My force has an "Old Gun" tank and a "Standard Gun" tank but I have the ability to upgrade by one level by using the "Days To War" table with the right results. So would make my tanks have a"Standard Gun' and " New Gun" tank so I am making 3 tanks one of each Gun class, then I can swop in and out the appropriate tank for the Gun class required.
Just getting my Scenery sorted and need to paint my Markers for October.

Now that is commitment Miles!

My own People's Popular Front army defected to the opposition when I wasn't looking and was left in the Peter Pig workshop when I left for home.

Im just hoping that they can be persuaded to return to the cause come 9th October 🤣😅😂

You have a nice lot of flags, Julian. Are the bearers doing some kind of pom-pom girl-like routine to unsettle the opposition?  :D

Simon

Colonel Kilgore

Isn't that a matter of national security for those concerned, Julian?  ;)

Presumably Sean will specify at what point (date?) all players armies are declared and then fixed for the Daventry game day?
For us Virgin AK47 soldiers, who are still getting to grips with the game, our armies are not yet fixed.

With a week to go, can I just wish all the best to those of you going to Daventry next Saturday, and applaud Sean for organising the day although I won't be there. Looking back at the posts I sympathise with all of the issues you've dealt with. I really loved organising Brixcon back in the day, but the constant worry about whether players would turn up in even numbers was a headache.

I see some familiar names in the list of participants, and some notable omissions - sadly in some cases as the guys are no longer with us. I met some great people through the organising of the event. It also helped fund my daughter and her friends on the "Team Challenge" expedition to Africa. She went back after graduating and spent 4 months teaching maths in a secondary school in the Tanzanian bush. I like to think that in a small way we did make things a little bit better in that corner of Africa, if only vicariously.

Have fun. And thanks for keeping Northamptonshire the home of Modern African Wargaming!

Graham,

They were great days indeed, although they feel like a lifetime ago now!

Build it and they will come isy motto. Just fingers crossed all make it and that COVID and fuel issues don't cause any problems.

I hadn't thought of the Northamptonshire link... Clearly the spiritual home of the AK DAY. The Loin King will live on!

Trebian

"Loin King"... I wonder if anyone has still got the T shirts I made one year.

Sean Clark

Yes I think I'll go Warlord as they were the worst performing in your own little campaign. I was going to go Dictatorship, but I'll stick with Warlord. I'll post my list here prior to Wednesday.

Martyn S has chosen Communist Intervention. I have pointed out Chris (Dorchesterbede) has already bagged them and asked him to reconsider, but I'm happy if he wishes to stick with them. Not sure what the difference is between them and the Western Interventionist as I don't have my rule book with me at the moment.

3 more days at work for me. Quite a bit to cram in with none AK47 Day commitments. But all day Thursday and Friday are free for my last bits to do:

1. Finish the buildings off.
2. Sort out some certificates.
3. Final conformation of tables and who is bringing what (tomorrow now...)
4. Put the raffle prizes in my carry box with some event essentials like glue, extra tape measures and dice, markers etc
5. Maybe paint a few more figures. Not essential though.
6. Base the vehicles for my Warlord army. Again not essential though.

What about you?

Colonel Kilgore

I just have to:
- put the finishing touches to some terrain templates
- complete my special 1 base / 2 base separation marker (with thanks to Miles for the idea)
- finish painting / basing some transport
- make a flag
-remember all the other stuff I've forgotten...
What could go wrong?
Simon

P.S. at least I now have a tank full of fuel!
