What are you working on....?

Colonel Kilgore

Trying to simultaneously progress my Western forces and clear up a couple of Vietnam projects (finally basing my VC force and completing some M48 tanks) which have been languishing on the desk for far too long.

Also got distracted over the holidays by a couple of the great little £2 1:144 WW2 Revell planes, "helped" by Kilgore Juniors #1 and #2. Not strictly wargaming (although the Stuka and ME109 would both be great for the new SCW rules) but good for keeping up the interest of the next generation until they can play with the new cowboys.

Stopped working on PP SCW as I have two forces with lots of extras, waiting for the trucks and armoured cars, an announcement at Colours perhaps.
Small bits of checks on HYITJ rules, but very early stages, lots of changes to come.
Vietnam firebase perimeter defences made just need dry brushing, ambush markers, perimeter defenders and gun crews finished. Making the eight squares that make the firebase, 3 ready for dry brushing, 2 for inking, and 3 started but need some more work.

Colonel Kilgore

It would be good to see your Firebase stuff when it's done, Les, and maybe you could share your techniques? It sounds as though you're putting a lot of care and effort in.

Leslie BT

Yep I'll get some photos posted and some info on how its all built.

That's looking really good, Les - some proper scratch-building and the ground effects look very good [if a tad gory with the blood red in places!].

Interesting that you are doing each square on its own "full" base (i.e. as opposed to just a standalone model that would sit somewhere in the 6 x 6" square), and it seems to work well. Is that aluminium sheeting you're using as the base?

Keep at it, and keep posting!

That is inspirational.

Yes I thought that i would make them as tiles as they can still be arranged in any pattern each in any orientation.
The 6" squares are made from 1mm aluminium, easy to cut with a jigsaw. Came free from some old signs.
The 3" x 6" perimeter pieces are offcuts from draw bases that come pre finished. With both base materials I then do not have any warping problems.
The red will disappear when I have finished dry brushing.
Next I need to get the resin putty out to make the sand bags.

Absolutely brilliant, whose birthday yours?

Do they come in other colours?

Bit of competition for Martin and Julie!!

My son Ben, who was with us at Cambrai. He had a 40k landraider last year in blue.
