Bayonet and Ideology / Re: Painting Nationalists

Hello. I can't believe the fact that nobody has mentioned the painting guide included in the excellent Peter Pig SCW rules. In, of all places,  a Peter Pig forum.
You do have them...don't you? :-)

Hello all,

Thanks ever so much for getting back to me. I've read and taken in your replies and I am really grateful for your time and help. I've obviously still got doubts as to how to proceed, I don't fancy sawing away and though Martin's idea is perfectly plausible, I've also seen those surrounded towers he mentions, I'd prefer to have the tower removed. John's ebay idea made me laugh at the perfectly valid logic behind the advice.

Still, the important thing here is the feedback and the companionship, and for that, I am indeed. very grateful.

Stay safe

General discussion / Peter Pig Norman Church

Hello all,

I would like to ask fellow forum members  how would they go about chopping off the roofed tower of the circa 1944 Normandy church.  I already own one and have thought about  converting it into a circa 1580 English parish church with a battlement-topped tower. My hobby skills are bordering on the ridicule so any ideas would be very appreciated.

I'd also like to make the most of the moment and ask Martin, if he has ever thought about making buildings for his SCW range. A shallow tiled roofed Norman church using the existing model would be really perfect for a Northern Spanish romanesque church. I can't find anything worthwhile in the market. I'm also looking at those pirate buildings of yours with more than just a passing curiousity.

Thanks in advance to all.

Look after yourselves

The 15 Mill / Re: Edition 5 is now out
March 23, 2020, 08:37:02 AM
Hello,
Congratulations to all those that contributed  to what has to be the best of all the 15 Mill editions!
I can honestly say there were more articles of interest in it than in many actual magazines.
So, once again, my congratulations to those of you who have contributed towards it as well as to those who have worked on the presentation and making it available to us.
Hope this isn't a jump the shark moment, so onwards and upwards!
Regards

Joe

PS Now I feel guilty watching from the stands!

Spanish Civil War music, let me think

Spain In My Heart: Songs Of The Spanish Civil War      This is an excellent cd of modern day versions of traditional Spanish songs

Just type Spanish Civil War Music on You Tube and you'll get dozens of versions.

This version is the most emotional of all..  just type "Christy Moore - Viva la Quinta Brigada. Live at Barrowland Glasgow"  Goose pimples guaranteed!

Hello all,

I'd just like to post a quick message to tell Kev that I'm a huge admirer of his work. Always a massive inspiration and he's definitely up there with Troaini in that respect. Congratulations on being so fortunate in possessing such talent.

Civil War Battles / Re: Peter Pig Zouaves and Headgear

Thank you again Colonel Kilgore for your help, and not for the first time. Sincere thanks.

Thanks to those fellow members for those kind words, I've never had those adjectives piled on my figures before so I'm feeling kind of bashful right now. Inside I'm glowing.

The Vallejo bottle job-to add to the puns sprinkled around here- is also very useful for Peter Pig figures. Once I finish a bottle or two or three, I throw them into warm soapy water and help peel off the labels. I take off the top and add water until the very top so it adds some heft to what is, in essence, a new figure holder. Put back the droplet thingy, then the top and it's ready to use. As it's without a label you can easily identify it from the full ones. I use blue tack or the tiniest drop of superglue to stick a figure on top-with the superglue it won't budge at all and as the base goes over the edges of the top just use your thumbnail to dislodge and if you're lucky you won't even have to scrape off the glue from the figure base.

I wouldn't have been able to paint those "Obelix trousers" without them! ;D ;D ;D

I hope my contribution is deemed interesting by the RCFMers. Many thanks, folks!

Thanks all.

Colonel KIlgore, sir.....I must be fick, in fact I know I am because I cant do all that magic you just explained how to do. Do you have to register on that site? Anyway, could you be so kind as put up the other two images I sent in. I'll get back to this when I get back from class.

Right....methinks the Italian Fascist Cap head works really well with the ACW zouaves, in fact for Louisiana Zouaves it's practically perfect. The tassle for this unit should be blue but it doesn't look so good so I have opted for red. Clipping the head of the original marching Zouave was a nightmare as the head does come into contact with the musket, but for other zouave figures it would be pretty straightforward. Now my units for Civil War battles have 6 figures to a base, so with the exception of the 4 command figures, I've only got another 31 heads to complete which as you can all imagine is an absolute nightmare. Anyway I hope to have inspired Zouave fans to give those Italian caps a go.

Martin, I love your range...it's without par in the 15mm world, but it needs an advancing zouave pack! ;-)
