Thought i would mention here a couple of good albums to play games by. Or just to think by.

1. Denez Progent   IRVI.  The singer  did Gortoz a Ran ( I will wait;  areal favourite of mine))   for Blackhawk down. Good after battle music.
2.Hedeo Osake  The art of the Japanese flute.  Good samurai music.
3. Age of Reason  Middlesex (USA) county volunteers. Good AWI music.
4.Hues of Blues and Greys  After Class .  ACW music.

I mention these because they are probably mostly unheard (pun) . I did not want members to miss them.  These albums are mainly instrumental of the period ,which should make them excellent background material. They are all recommended by me, for what it is worth.

I can recommend others for WOTR, SCW and EW too if anyone wants to know.

I'd love to hear some SCW recommendations.

I really enjoy some period music whilst saying games. Vietnam is an obvious one with loads to choose from.

The ACW also lends itself well to background music with plenty to choose from.

I suppose some Gregorian chant for WotR would be really atmospheric.

SCW recommendations? Manic Street Preachers "if you tolerate this, then your children will be next" is the only SCW influenced song I know, there should probably be some Clash, or The Men They Couldn't Hang too.

'English Protest Songs' by Chumbawamba has a good rendition of the Diggers Song for us British Civil Wars/ECW/ Wars of the Three Kingdoms people

I am recommending actual music of the era rather than "inspired by" music.

Shauspiladun (wolgemut)  for WOTR.
Also York waites featuring Amtony Barton of AB fame
Songs of the Spanish civil War Volume 1 and 2     2014   for SCW

These are albums of actual period music.

Yes it's period music I'm looking for.

However I'm always happy to listen to The Clash or MSP

John Watson

I think the Grateful Dead for all periods.

Leman (Andy)

I don't like music when playing, but always have it on when painting.

Quebec

Spanish Civil War music, let me think

Spain In My Heart: Songs Of The Spanish Civil War      This is an excellent cd of modern day versions of traditional Spanish songs

Just type Spanish Civil War Music on You Tube and you'll get dozens of versions.

This version is the most emotional of all..  just type "Christy Moore - Viva la Quinta Brigada. Live at Barrowland Glasgow"  Goose pimples guaranteed!

Planet Rock have started playing Grateful Dead more often lately. I see their albums are now on Spotify as well, there was a time when it was hard to get hold of their material.
I agree with Leman on this, when Painting I like to have Music and sometimes the TV on, especially if it's a program watched before and you don't mind the repeats, then it's not essential to watch it all, but it's there as background noise. Which I find better when painting/modelling.
