Just some thoughts to contribute/inflame to the chat.

1. Peter Entoyment was left with empty tables on the Sunday at the show.
He was a  bit perturbed. We should support him by putting games on.

2. It is the 80th anniversary of the D day landings. This might create a number of D day games. That would be good to see. This forum has  plenty of players with the ability and resources to put on great D day games. We played a good one last night at Weymouth (thanks Mike).

3.Who here is up for beach head show ,albeit it is at long range at the moment (8 months)?
In addition, are folk available for  Saturday, Sunday or both?  That is important.

There could be two simultaneous RFCM games?
There could be one game , the same each day.
There could be one game on Saturday and a different one on the Sunday.

My personal thoughts would be D Day on Saturday and Vietnam on Sunday.

Vietnam might be three tables end to end. The three tables would be completely separate for game play  but joined physically to look impressive ,so the basic search and destroy game could be played several times in the day. A "15 foot of jungle" game would look very impressive I think. We have enough Vietnam to do such a task.

Sadly Beachhead suffers like other one day shows crammed into two days. I have only done the Sunday when Dave Lanchester Books attended and both times the Sunday was a complete waste.
As he is not planning on attending next year I will be free but will most likely just do the Saturday.

I should be able to do the Saturday, but not the Sunday.

Not bothered what I play - I have a bunch of stuff for Vietnam (thanks to the push to put on this year's Beachhead show!) and Germans to push the Allies back off their sandy beaches.

I think at this time I can only commit to one day, Sat or sun
I have a 6x4 D-Day type table with all the figures and scenery required
Also a complete Vietnam table

Happy to say yes to the idea at this stage.

Is "yes to the idea" a sort of commitment to consider it, Mike?  ;D

At the moment we have:-
Simon for the Saturday.
John W for the Saturday.
Big Mike for something.
Stewart with 6/0 x 4/0 D Day landing on one day.  It will 80 year commemorations next year.
Martin with D Day on Saturday and Vietnam on Sunday.
Leslie with undecided on Saturday and Vietnam on the Sunday.

Good summary Les.
That helps focus.

I rather fancy doing Sunday Vietnam.

I could stick a spanner in the works and suggest that it is also going to be the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.

A nice snow game. Lovely.
D day will be the big name though?

Colonel Kilgore

Good point, Martin. Most of the general public will have heard of D-Day, while the Battle of the Bulge might be more commonly related to people trying to manage their waistlines?

As D day previous players I would like to hear from Miles and Colin too?

Well Stewart has asked us to do a big DDay for June next year. Martin has also asked me to put on the factory game for next years Beachhead ? I don't mind ?
I ve also looked and bought a 20 mm model of Monte Casino as well as it is 80th anniversary of that too ?
A PBI game for Beachhead is a must as the newer version of the rules would be ready or nearly ready.
So to show people what can be done with the 2023 rules and not the 2004 rules that everyone else always refers too ? I use to play PBI .... ( I use to hair once ? )
So yes I am happy to go with the flow.
I am happy to put on a 1944 based game on, wether it's in Europe or Jungle ? Mediterranean or France ?
For 2025 can I suggest the Fall of Berlin ? Wether we do one long table or 3 separate but connected tables ? This will require a few people to play and run the game. But I need to get the idea out there as this is possibly a big game and needs some planning ? Whichever format we do it in ? Doing a number of "separate" tables might be easier?
Anyway Beachhead 2024.
PBI yes for Saturday and possibly Sunday depending on the game ?
Year 1944. As we know 80th Anniversary of the year.
Which theatre? Which battle ?
How many people for each table ?
Could be 2 types of games ? Saturday games, Sunday Games. As we will have more people available for the Saturday?

If you did Utah Beach then it could double as Anzio. Just need to change the French accents for Italian ones.
