Hi everyone,

I am Solo Gamer... although I have not played anything for over a year...

How many others are there on the Forum?

Hi Howard

I think it has been a common experience for many of us at times this year.

I have been suffering withdrawel and due to lack of space have improvised. If you check my posts you will find my solution in going vertical.

Brought back many memories of being a solo gamer, the issues you have, the extra rules and behaviors you have to make for one or both sides, even something as simple as a way to randomise what scenary goes where.

Where are you? no clubs nearby?

Anyway, good to see you on here.

Welcome

Miniatures.  Tried it, lost interest after turn 1.

But I play solo hex and counter wargames.

Hi Howard,
I'm a solo gamer largely through circumstance, though being chronically incapable of meeting like minded people doesn't help either. The social side of gaming largely eludes me so I tend to lose myself in the world-building aspects of the hobby.
I also don't have the space for gaming and like you haven't had an actual game of any description in over a year.
Being only really interested in niche periods doesn't help either so by default I've largely become more of a collector/painter than actual gamer.

Norm

I do solo and face to face, but greater proportion is solo and I am comfortable with it and enjoy it.

Sean Clark

Occasionally. I tend to prefer to sit and paint to be honest, but I'm probably going to play a Regiment of Foote battle and record it for the Little Wars TV video challenge.

John Watson

I've never got into solo gaming, be it war-games or boardgames. To me a large part of gaming is the social contact. If I wanted to do something entertaining on my own I'd read a book.

I'm a solo wargamer. Prefer it this way!

This is a pretty close to my own experience although i do get to game against wife or daughter.

My two eldest have moved to the 'dark side' and now only game online... :(

I play solo out of choice rather than Corona virus. A lot of club aspects do not appeal especially the strong pull towards fantasy, WWII, Napoleonics and naf rules, plus the surrounding drinking and fast food culture does not appeal either.

Nice to know I am not on my own, if that is not ironic  ::)

I had a plan pre-lockdown for an AK campaign, then everyone was working at home, so no space, as Mrs Hman was using the table as her office!

AK Day has inspired me to roll some dice.

I hear you... plus I'm very awkward in social situations - the archetypal lurker who hovers around demo games but rarely gets involved... :(
