Hi all
Most of my terrain is now done
Just need the figures and a few more buildings
Was struggling with bamboo but am awaiting an eBay order from China
What do others use for the bamboo terrain pieces?

Many thanks

Nice scene Jim

I like that raised road. Nice place to park 2 x M48s.
Do say if you would like to know how i based my bamboo to withstand flights, games and shows..

Looking good, Jim.

I used plastic bamboo from China. I glued the stems into holes drilled into MDF bases, after locally stripping back the plastic to get down to the wire. Easier done than said!

Best of luck, and do show us the results,

Simon

Great looking table. That will make for some good games.

Hi all
Thanks for the advice

I will update when the next stage is complete

Here's a pic showing more of the terrain so far

Cheers

Nice! I think that the grids in this game work so well with the rice fields - probably my favourite set of RFCM rules.

James,

You're in for a treat when you get playing. It can be a tough day for the US if you just run around shooting at anything that moves. Get in, get the supplies and get out quick is my advice!

I also really like the Firebase and the Montagnards game. Give them a go too when you can.

Colonel Kilgore

That is excellent advice, Sean! But it can be hard to follow in the heat of the action, which is just one thing that makes it such an excellent game.

The Viet Cong games is a good turn around of rolls in the game.

Hi again
Bamboo has finally arrived and I've made a start on it,
Bit of trial and error but hopefully will get it sorted soon

I would do what Stewart and Martin have done, mount the strips of bamboo onto CD's  then 2 per terrain piece.

Jimbo, if it's not too late, I would try to get all the bamboo as vertical as you can, as they do tend to grow straight up.
This may well mean a different approach to fixing them to the base. CDs can work well but you will need to fix the stems firmly  - one reason I opted to glue them into holes in MDF.
Good luck!

For what it is worth here s what I did.
Plastic rectangular bases.
Rectangles give an option of orientation.
Make the edge irregular.
Strip off the bottom 3cm of bamboo plastic.
Curl into a ring/circle.
Bend 90'
Attach this to plastic base with  milliput.

Hi all
Thanks for the feedback/tips
I have loads left to give these a try
About half of what I've done are upright enough although not sure how durable they will be!
