I have just sent out 57. No real changes but good to get it out there. You can see the start of the new battle maps. They are in colour.

Was this on a "need to know" basis, Martin?  ;)

I need to get back to the battles etc. It is a bit half done on that topic.
Agent 57 has been........

Present considerations.
1. Scenery . Historically  good but does it look nice (a secondary but important criterion).
2. Countdown at 33. Is the game too long in real time?
3. Table size for 25mm.
4. Recovery or order, guns, arrows takes players a while. Can it be shortened?  Maybe a pool of 8D6 to cover all of these matters. That would reduce dice rolling (speed) and allow army to decay?
5. Campaign system. Bearing in mind that the rules are already very big.

Morning Martin,
When is 57 ready for release?

That was what I was wondering too when Martin had said he'd sent out #57. It looks as though you and I are both off the Christmas list, Stewart!

Sorry I thought it got out Ok.  I have sent it   again. Let me know if it arrives please.   Apologies if anyone gets it twice.

Nick

Definitely worked that time.
Thanks Martin.

Here is an idea.
Each army  has 8 (?) recovery D6.  These can be used for re-ordering, low on arrows, recovery of wards and guns. players would allocate them anywhere they like and hen roll them.
This might  take even more time for indecisive players.
It might also allow the army to gradually decay (a good thing)

Thoughts?

Worth trying.  What about a certain number of dice per general on table, so if you lose generals these kind of recoveries get harder?

We can try it tonight if you like Martin but it adds another layer which will slow the game down. Is it 8D6 per turn or per game?

I've also got it (and just the once) - many thanks Martin.

I agree Stewart, it will be another delay rather than speeding the game up. It also some thing else that players have to record carefully.

Is it not time to remove complexities rather than add another.

What are the conclusions from the BB play day on the current state of version 57 of the rules?

Whats still not quite right about the rules?

What can be removed to make the game shorter?

Are the armies big enough, do you need to buy and paint lots more figures?

Have you all the troop types for the period?

Does the pregame get you into the period?

Nick

Also interested to hear what worked or didn't work well from the play test day.

regards,
Nick
