Then there is a plan.
Maybe the others are keen to go back for a Cunaxa battle as well?

I think they have not "properly" announced it yet, but yes it is at the same time.
Persian with Greeks v Persians.
I will need to sculpt a Persian range of course.
Are you up for it?

Slingshot has just produced it's 360th edition.
At 6 editions per year, this gives 60 years.

I belonged in the mid 1970s (very WRG) and joined again in 2021 (A4 size).
If you are interested in ancient wargaming, then this is for you.

They also organise ancient orientated gaming events. The battle day in 2026
is on Sunday 29th March. The battle is Cunaxa. Persians v Persians with the Greeks in support. We can organise it during the early part of 2026 for those interested. Newbury.

Last year it was the battle of Maldon (vikings v English)run by Miles, Simon, Nigel and myself. I highly recommend this event.

Previously we sent a party to do WOTR at their event.

General discussion / Re: Napoleonic après siege

If we can have an achievable target all will be well(?)

Civilians will not be part of the game as they have no part in the fight. It might also be in bad taste to be massacring  them even if it happened in real life. Although they might be part of the game by interrupting movement?
The assaulters will be all infantry.
The defender will have some non panicking troops and raggedy troops too.
I think maybe a gun might be part of the internal defences?
Possibly some nasty barricades too.

Randoms might include explosions and fires in addition to the usual reinforcements?

I wonder if we could use GPT (AI) to run a campaign?
Not fight the battles (that is our hobby)  but put the results together in order to create  a story and generate odd randoms?

Just a chat.

The figures will be very Napoleonic "Peninsular".
The range cannot be large as there is a lot  of other work I would like to get done.  My problem is time available, rather than which packs to make.

Initially the idea would be two packs of French and two packs of British.
3 poses per pack. Command and rank. Possibly a casualty pack. Possibly a gun pack.
That is all fairly straight forward (?).
Maybe three head packs for variety too.

Because the siege itself is not being portrayed, the rules can be more general.
This means that the aftermath is more similar in comparison to other periods than the siege craft.
I think it could cover Napoleonic and the times around it. Possibly Ancient, medieval and renaissance  fortress breaching.  It would not include smaller  forts such as Maori. The rules assume the internal dimensions of the fortification would allow military command  chaos and troops to wander all over the place out of direct control.

The overall skeleton of the rules is based on the pirate land raids. But that is only the starting points. As always, I am doing  background reading in preparation.

I am certainly working of the Napoleonic rules as we speak.
The trick I think is not to flood our group with too many simultaneous projects.
TDL?

"I Don't Care"(IDC).  Seems a bit harsh Derek?
It is still a live project as is the Robin Hood.
I just need to keep  folk informed as to what the direction and speed of travel is.
Forum members should  judge me on the previous record of RFCM for better or worse.

This project is still ongoing, but will start proper after Christmas if TCR is all done and sorted.

Hello Simon

The praetorians are yes Roman.
There will only be an advancing pack with embossed shields. Command can be the normal Roman figures.

"Botic" is a shortening of robotic in an unusual way. I will see if it catches on?  This figure has no arms or armament yet, will be the basis of some more Auxiliary types.

Workbench and Suggestions / Tody Mould 27th September 2025
September 27, 2025, 02:10:31 PM
Just came down from my 5 hour mould making shift. I get to listen to some interesting radio. Specifically Matt Frei (LBC) whom I think is very informative and  intelligent.

The mould

Praetorian infantry.
Legionaries with plain shield advancing.
Legionaries with sword (waiting for shields)
Botic  master for TCR.
