Colonel Kilgore

Thanks for coming back on this, Miles.

Does this mean that you will be limiting this year's PBI event to the Italy / North African theatre (in which case I'll try and get busy with something suitable), or would you also permit / support folk who want to play Far East at the same event within the same 1943 theme?

Colonel Kilgore

Indeed (I'm warming to the theme now...) how about a "game of two halves", with players playing one theatre in the morning and then trying their hand at the other (possibly even switching sides as well) in the afternoon?

That would allow (assuming we get numbers roughly evenly balanced between theatres) everyone to indulge their own desires and also (for those needing it - I count myself in that number) to get the motivation to paint up the appropriate new forces?

Smiley Miley 66

No the theme is:       1943.

Any army that was used in 1943.

Just to make that clear 1943.

Miles.

Now the other thing I needed to sort out is date ?
Late September ?
DOES ANYBODY have an objections on late September ?
It would take place at Entoyment in Poole. I have heard that by then they might have changed to a different site....
So what I now need is suggested dates ?
So a date that DOESN'T clash with a show ? Before I get the usual what about Newbury ? I usually like to set the date 2 weeks after that type of show, to allow you to make any " last minute" buys to appear in your army.
So any dates that people can make would be good ? Or can't make ?
So September 22nd or 29th ???
Any advances on either of these dates ?
Miles

Colonel Kilgore

Thank you Miles.

So, just to be clear - any army, any theatre. And any year, as long as it's 1943, right?

September 22nd and 29th both good for me. Newbury is on 15th September this year, so 29th is perhaps the better date if you want to allow a 2-week gap?

Wardy64

The 29th is good for us, baring surgery (awaiting dates 2nd operation).

Those September dates look good Miles. As  you say , folk can get new figures at Colours!

Smiley Miley 66

The 29th would be better for me.

Smiley Miley 66

After speaking with Martin and Peter down at Entoyment, I ve booked the PBI for 29th September.
As it is the 75th Anniversary of 1943. I have set this as the theme of the day. If you can present one or Two armies that have 1943 listings. Any Theatre any country please.
Now if in the mean time people have opposing armies and that don't usually play against that person we can start arranging a battle for that day, before the day.
Miles

Colonel Kilgore

Great stuff - thank you Miles!

Can we not just concentrate on the Far East for this day , any year so early British, Dutch, US, Jap and Chinese? Interesting period/area with mainly infantry battles.

Big Mike

29th September looks good for me. I can do a Far East Dutch KNIL army or 1943 DAK so will go with the flow.

Smiley Miley 66

Well if we did do Far East Stewart I haven't got an ARMY so it's not worth me coming !!!
No the next 3 years we are celebrating 75 th anniversary of 1943-1944-1945. After that it would be 2021 so we can do 1941-1942 armies ? These would be 80th anniversary's then.
Remember this is the Turning point of the war so the difference in the armies for any major force can quite diverse. So we're still using 41-42 equipment while others were re-equipment for the more " modern" 43 going into 44 but at the same time no major War winning equipment !!! No JS tanks, Fireflies tanks or King Tigers

Stewart 46A

Warfare is 17/18th Nov

Smiley Miley 66

Theme 1943
One thing I did say though, if players wanted to play certain armies and if enough people on here have " Opposing forces " for Far East games. We could pair you up before the tournament. So they and others on the day know what is going on. So arranging scenery that can be done all before the day.
I have my British which I said before I was going to do some early Churchills and maybe early Sherman's for. So Tunisia or Italy for me. I see Michael has a DAK army so there's one game for me ??? Martin has Italians maybe another game for me ?
If you can see what I am getting at ?
But as long as it's an 1943 army and they have Opposing forces for the 2 games. Otherwise anyone left will have to go into the pot and see who plays who ?
I don't want to make it one particular theatre as it can cause restrictions on others. Hence why Michel arranged the Ardennes day so we can play a particular time and theatre and battle.
Take next year it's 1944, so do we all do DDay ? Or would you like to be able to field an army for1944 and do some thing different ?
