So a big theme in Westerns seems to be prospectors, for things like gold etc. I seem to remember reading as well about gold miners moving in on Indian sacred sites in the Black Hills and the like. So how about introducing Prospectors as a faction? They could have special rules for dynamite like so of the others, special defence piece of a mine shaft opening or bit of equipment. Lots of pack mules for liabilities.

Have you also considered favoured enemies? For example a favoured enemy of Miners would be the Indians. Favoured enemy of the Cattlemen would be farmers (one presumes represented by townsfolk or settlers.) And so on? Just a thought, could add a bonus to victory points or be an enhancement of aggression bonus?

Hello Duncan
Thanks for the comments.
Prospectors come under the workers force category. Prospectors could be called a "faction" of the workers category, but that would be bit of a grammatical stretch i feel? .
The basic idea behind Western is that players can build any force they like and fight all comers. This gives plenty of potential for finding an opponent who has his own scenery and figures. Campaigns can of course feature common protagonists. Atlantic did some great little scenery items like miner's carts etc . They will go fine with 15mm as the original Atlantic figures were mostly 20mm.
