Once again we went along to the SELWG show in London  22nd Oct. As usual the SELWG folk are very well organised. They are one on the top shows for organisation. They make sure the stands are all set up. They ensure that bad traders don't move the tables about or box them in. They ensure loading is done in an orderly manner. Even the car parking was supervised. So hats off to SELWG for being probably the most organised show I have attended. the other shows are good too of course but SELWG seems the gold standard.

Now to the games.  A nice selection of games carrying from tanks versus everyone to historical refights of Italian renaissance. plenty of space around the game tables with plenty of chairs too.  Excellent. the lighting is very good and aids the games.  i saw games in 25mm, 20mm,15mm and 10mm. there were probably other sizes but those are the ones I saw.  Some games used sceery tiles but the majority were split between pre-printed mats and  custom.sprinkled mats. that would not be true ten years ago.
Trading was a bit lower than before, but then that is mainly to do with th internet being the main sales point of most companies?
Prizes were given for games but i do not remember the details of them (sorry).
The Bring and buy was well spread out and easy to access.  A variety of goods on sale. A fair few boxes of scenery such as 10mm houses. Also good to see small lots such as 6 chariots for £18  so a small spend was possible.

Overall a very good show.  Although subjective I wold opine that it is a "top show".

Thanks to the SELWG crew   for their hard work!

On the PP front.  SCW rules were well received, About 12 players partook the "SCW experience".
WW2 sold the best. samurai the worst. SCW very poor apart from the new armoured trucks.
We met a few of the SELWG  PBI team. They seem to be "prospering".

Will upload some pictures to XX

Great to hear it was both a good show and lots of curiosity for the new game. Im pretty sure the sales of SCW will pick up once the rules are 'out there' and word starts to spread. Not many other people doing 15mm SCW so a cornered market!

I wonder when Wardy's article will be printed? That might help sell a couple of copies?

Colonel Kilgore

Sounds like a great show, Martin - thanks for the write-up.

Sorry that SCW didn't sell well, despite the interest in the rules. Also surprising re. Samurai, since these are arguably one of your more colourful ranges?

Maybe more YouTube advertising beckons...?

Indeed, what about having a laptop on your stand "looping" your various YouTube offerings, so folk realise that this resource exists and is growing?

Leman (Andy)

Strange one that as the Samurai game is very popular in the Liverpool club, and I know my brother plays at his club near Clevedon.

I love my Samurai!

Martin,

Can I ask what is the green strip across on table that I can see in all photos from the show?

Thanks
Sean

John in York

SCW always goes down well at the York club.
We've got our first try out of the new rules next month
At Vappa we are putting on Spanish tank racing using the new mechanisms so Ican see some interest coming then.

I'm wondering if he has set the full table up but only used a bit of it for the demo game?

Good thinking Einstein
