PBI 2018 and beyond ?

Hello All. I am looking at getting feedback for possible dates next for PBI games day ?
Also thinking about possible themes for the day day ?
I was thinking as next year and the next 2 years, it is 75 th anniversary of of 1943 next year, also 2019 and 2020 will the 75th anniversary of 1944 and 1945 respectively. So I was thinking of basing forces on the possible armies that would be expected to be found in each year of the WW2.
So an example I couldn't put a Sherman Firefly in my army as it didn't appear until mid 1944. Or if I had a German Army a King Tiger etc etc. I think you get the idea But saying that for the 1945 (2020) might allow the use of Paper Tanks ? As those that know me I have Centurion tanks, E 100, E75 etc. That's only a thought for now ?
So please Feedback and suggestions on themes and Dates. These will be played at either Entoyment in Poole or somewhere in Weymouth and or Christchurch areas as this is where a lot of us live. So I am trying to give fair warning to those that live in other areas warning, and No Excuses !!!

Just an idea for 2019, what about somewhere in Normandy near Les? Make it a boys weekend away with D-day and few days after as the theme. May be a local wargames group may want to take part.
Will discuss with Les when he is next over.

I like your idea of specific years' armies. It will encourage us to research and come up with some original ideas. Normandy 2019 Stewart? That's Calva Country, sounds good to me.

Well it's a way to theme your army without having to make a whole new one. Just make up extra bases and vehicles to fit those years ? But we could also have Tunisian style armies as well as Italian theatre and of course Russian in 1943 a diverse choice.
Now where are my Churchill mk 111 against Martins Italians ?

If you want to commemorate the various years, what campaigns would be good to centre the games on for these 3 years of gaming.

1943. The armies would be expected forces from that year. So a Churchill mk 111 with 6pdr. An early version of a panther with the "dustbin" type cupola and smoke projectors, a Ferndinan rather than an Elephant, that sort of thing.
So some people including myself will have to fashion their troops and vehicles and organisations around 1943.
Then 2019 it will be 1944 so an expected army from that year. Sherman Firefly, up armoured Churchill etc.

I like the idea of the 3 years. We have a fair bit of scope as 1943 includes Italy,Russia and Africa, etc. Would you want to limit the games to European theatres ?

I t would be nice to have games representing the major theatres. There are figures for each and it will show off different terrain styles.
