New Show in London

The "Miniature Wargames" magazine  and its sister publication "tabletop gaming" are starting a new show. September 2018 at Alexandra palace inLondon.   i do not think we shall be there but is anyone else thinking of going??

Not me sorry. Salute is my one venture into London. I keep thinking of trying to get to SELWG but can't justify the time or expense over and above what Salute costs.

Very close to where I grew up. Might go for sentimental reasons, but its a long day away from the Shire.

My first thought was, why bother if PP and its 15mm goodness are not going to be there ?

My second thought was to actually read the link to:

"It will be a show for everyone, whether you're a dedicated Magic: The Gathering or X-Wing collector, Warhammer 40,000 or Malifaux miniature wargamer, Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying adventurer, or someone who just enjoys a lighthearted round of Exploding Kittens or Pandemic."

Interesting definition of "everyone"...

I probably won't be going, unless I really feel the need for some exploding kittens, but thanks for posting!

That nails the key challenge to my mind. Less than a month away from SELWG - the 2nd biggest show in London - and probably only a week or so from Colours, which is eminently do-able for anyone in West London anyway.

It also smacks of a publisher trying to think up another revenue stream, and deciding that it's going to be easy to copy UK Games Expo.

I agree. Not sure what it's aim is other than a rip off of UK Games Expo (which is excellent!)

Since it will be the closest show to me geographically I am quite keen to see it be a success and I will certainly be going. As to what kind of games will be there, our club play Wings of Glory, Zombicide and Star Wars as well as conventional table games and most of these table games are moving to the skirmish/roleplaying end of the spectrum to make transportation and set up as easy as possible so I can imagine there would be a lot to interest us. I am most interested in how the event will be organised and whether it will follow the American model of booking slots in games, often put on by manufacturers, or will rely on clubs or gaming groups lending their services, in which case I think I might be volunteering.

Nope - I'm a history man and wouldn't touch it with my mate's barge pole (he actually has one for his narrow boat - and he's a wargamer to boot!). I went to something massive and silly in Birmingham and felt very out of place and nowhere near OCD enough!

Driving to SELWG was hard work through London. Is alex palace nearer to the motorways? Maybe it is on the tube??
Most of the advertising so far has been about the games side of things. Will see what the miniatures side of things will look like.

Its a good 45 minutes from the M25, no direct tube, you need to get a bus after. There is a station at the bottom of the hill, so you can bus or walk it up.

Great place, but not the easiest to get to unless you live in North London.
