Suggested game specifics:-

1. No tanks
2. No off table (asset) smoke or HE.
3. Up to 1 gun allowed.
4.No buildings but 4-6 woods compulsory.

Does that sound OK?

I am getting in with some jungle pieces. I will have to have some woods using my African trees as well. As I haven't got enough "jungle" materials or enough time to do them all ?

That looks very nice Miles.
Just do what you can manage with the time and materials you have.

I will make extra palm trees etc. No problem.

So scenery Woods/jungle. Hills and maybe Marshes/rough one or 2 of each ?
Only 2 inch Mortars, no 3 inch or MMGs either ?

I ve got African trees and loads of individual based Palm trees.
I ve also got Astro Turf pieces we can use for a lot of Partials to give the impression of busy terrain?
These I done for "jungle terrain"
The "Roads" need to be track like ? Rather than Road like.

The smaller ones are based on 50mm washers from "Inexcess" was 12p each last year ?
The bigger ones are based on a load of wooden discs like large cup placemats? Someone threw them out so I've used them for Astro turf and doormats for long greas in Africa and Asia! They fill the Square up, but still enough room for most troop placements in a normal game ! But they do look good!
The Astro turf were "Samples" from "grass warehouse" you can order 5 sample 8 inc squares from them ? Go for the 35-45mm high grass for the bushy look ?

Splendid job Miles. Well done.

We are fighting inland along the Kokoda trail.

Roads in PBI help us place the objectives. Roads also allow ease of movement for vehicles.
Because we are not using vehicles (apart from maybe 1 gun) we could use a  track for the here to there(attacker)  road and a stream for the left to right one?
I will be bringing tracks made by Pete Lowe.  Apposite I think.

The changes for KOKODA that I suggest are:-

1. No tanks. No transports. No AA .No armoured cars.
2. No off table (asset) smoke or HE.
3. Up to 1 gun allowed.
4.No buildings but 4-6 woods compulsory.
Hope that all sounds reasonable.

MMGs and mortars are fine. The table will naturally limit their arcs of action.
This is all very restrictive but gives a good feelling for fighting in jungle scenery?

I shall probably choose 1 rough hill, 4 jungle and 1 marsh. That will gve players a challenge of reaching over lots of scnery.
