Airfix are re releasing their  sherwood castle and Roman mile forts in 2026.
£24.99. The boxes include two packs f figures too.
These forts work well for 15mm gaming.
I would like the fort Sahara to be re- released. But that is a wish rather than an expectation.
Exciting chance to get them.

That seems like a very good price, Martin. Particularly if one sells on the "vacuum cleaner" (was that Bruce Quarrie?) figures.  :)

And buys some nice new 15mm alternatives from the Peter Pig Robin Hood range that will surely get a bump up the list by the fort coming out?  ;)

Fort Sahara is going for 120 pounds on ebay at the moment

Although this might be more affordable for most of us https://blotz.co.uk/product/desert-fort-15mm/

The airfix fort range was excellent.
The fort Sahara did tend to pop apart at times as the plastic was a little flexible.

Some thoughts.

Roman fort. Multiple ones can be made into a long wall section for European sieges later in the empire.
Fort Apache. A couple together can make a nice fort for FIW or Western.
Fort Sahara. Can be on its own as a small fort of maybe two together can be a more plausible fort. SCW and PITS
Sherwood castle. Do the Terry wise big fort.  Needs about 10 kits. Single castle could be used in WOTR, ECW.
Pontoon bridge. WW2 bridgehead being defended from air and land assault.
Gun emplacement. Guns of Navarone type scenario.
Zoo set.(very rare) Berlin WW2.

The "solution" might be to design a similar one in 3D as parts. Then issue the forts in kit form.

My liking for these forts is probably more nostalgic than practical?

You forgot the Coastal Defence? That was the 2 x 8 inc guns together.
The Gun emplacement was the 5.9 inc Destroyer gun.
There was 2 Zoo sets as well I had both, one of them had "Tarzan" with it ?
Stupidly I let them go, because I was slimming down on my bits as I was going to live in Africa, but then I met Sandra and stopped that silly nonsense? I sold most of my 20mm stuff to our favourite man in Parkstone all those decades ago !
The only missing set is the Sahara fort as I never had the Roman fort or Sherwood Castle. I think I ve got about 3 Pontoon bridges now ? I ve got 2 Fort Apaches one complete and the other damaged, that one I was going to make into a full Western template.

I did wonder about the Robin Hood Castle being useful for Wars of the Roses and the medieval skirmish variant of TCR.

Also it'll be useful for when the Robin Hood game is developed.

martin goddard

Indeed  Sean. The nasty sherif needs a lair.

If people have access to a good source, then HaT figures seem to have a lot of the old Airfix stuff - it's where my Tarzan figure came from.

I was thinking it would be a  terrain piece for Dragons  Rampant

Now that is a good thought ?

Nice idea...👍🏼
(Q. what scale do you play DR in?)

15mm - but it is more of an aspiration at the moment

Go for it 👍🏼
I use 15mm for LR, and have an army set up for DR. It works well with an amended scale of measurement, to make my 3 x 4 foot table usable.
