As described my Martin!
" Creeper blockers are in fact webs of stunned samnite flappers (no idea what they look like, but they look gold and silver)

So, of course, I decided to make a few!

Hope you like them!

Barry

How have you made those Barry?

They look very good

Apparently they are made from something called "Angel Paper", found in a local Art Shop... it appears to be something used by Wimminfolk for "nail art", which I don't think is anything to do with woodwork.  ;D  ;D  ;D

I think they look excellent, and remarkably close to the description of them in the rules...

Barry's given me a few more notes on how he built his "webs of Samite Flappers"... the Angel Paper (see above) was simply cut into 6" strips, with the top edge cut irregularly, then hot-glued onto the wider wooden lolly sticks (bulk bags available from Hobbycraft and elsewhere, if your iced lolly consumption won't keep up...). The paper is available in several colours, including gold and silver effects.
Putty or filler applied to the stick either side of the Angel Paper, for strength and to hide the glue line, then the groundwork is painted and drybrushed to suit your terrain.

A jolly good job well done!

That is great Jon (good work Barry).
Link to such paper please.
Angel paper gives a wide range of papers but not like the above.

thanks

Yes, I know... on further investigation, what now seems to be called "Angel Paper" in the Nail Art world does appear to be quite different from what Barry's used... unfortunately he bought his (just a couple of sheets) long ago from a now-closed art shop, and trying to track down any more is proving very difficult!   :(

If anyone else has stronger Google-fu today, or indeed can think of any alternative materials, please feel free to chip in! Otherwise Barry's set of Stunned Samite Flapper Webs may yet prove to be the only ones in the Universe...!

I've enrolled the help of CoPilot.

Japanese Tengu / Tosa Tengujo made from "100% natural kozo (mulberry) fibres" and aimed at museum conservation seems close, but it's only available in its natural colour.

It can also get very expensive.

This is gummed, but may sort of fit the bill, albeit 15mm wide?

An alternative would be to edit that portion of the draft rules, to correspond with something that we can actually buy  ;D

Wider tapes are available but look more uniform e.g. the 60mm white one here: https://www.preservationequipment.com/tengu-japanese-paper-tape-7-3-gsm-rolls-tape

For blockers I am thinking of plaster board fixings on a lolly stick

They look good for the other forces but not creepers.

For the non-creeper (human) forces I really like Barry's pipe-cleaner-wiggly-energy-field ones (see his article on making them in the last Mill issue...).  :D

Still trying to find out what this stuff is that he used for the creeper ones...

Had a further idea, though not sure if it's a good one... the loose, random chopped-strand glass fibre mat (the stuff you use to make/fix boats, cars etc) looks a bit like a much coarser version of this. It MIGHT work, with a very light spray of silver or gold paint?

BUT - a big warning here - it isn't totally pleasant stuff, it can irritate some people's skin, and you can easily get your fingers speared by the individual glass strands - these problems MIGHT be solved by spray painting it, but I'd still advise caution. This is just a random thought that might bear more investigation with care, not a recommendation!!!   ;D  ;D  ;D  8)

This sort of stuff ?

What about anti insect mesh ? Nowhere as dangerous or messy to work with ? Would do a similar job ?
