I am doing some more preparation work for this project.
I have consulted and read quite a  bit.

The initial conclusions for figures are.

Cavalry very few/no shields. Note that Alexander's horsemen had no shields either.
Also cavalry may well have some nice tail ribbons and cut manes. Cavalry will come in armour showing and armour not showing/present versions.
I hope to do a  third pack of heavy armoured cavalry.
Then add cavalry command.

This would give us a practical and achievable start. Cavalry units could then be
started. After this initial cavalry work, the skirmishing cavalry would get attention.  No promises after that as there is a lot of work involved in these first stages.

We would need generals and chariots too for sure.

All good fun

Excellent news - thanks for sharing the plan, Martin.

I like shieldless cavalry - rather easier to paint  ;)

Will we perhaps need a special scenario rule for "one-shot" scythed chariots?

Simon

I think they would be covered by shock status.
The chariots did act as a unit rather than suicide bombs.
In CK, chariots only save on 4,5,6 so they will quickly die or succumb to being shot at.

I think we should carry the game out in a very normal fashion.
i.e Deploy as wished  and defender suffers depletions/lates.
But.......the Rebels must always choose or be selected as the defenders.

i wonder if we can get a presnt day picture of the battlefield. Maybe it is an industrial park?

The exact location doesn't appear to be known, though on the left bank of the Euphrates River close to modern day Baghdad is mentioned.

On Google maps, this seems to be a fairly built up and agricultural area now.

martin goddard

Maybe just a few light industrial buildings?

Also a Garden Centre as you have the Hanging Gardens of Babylon just down the road ?
Somewhere to sit and have coffee and cake after a long day out on the plains ?

This scenery is coming along nicely.

I ve marked out a "river" section 30 actually 36 inches long but in 2 x1 ft 2 x6 inch sections. I can use these for AK 47 as well.
I ve got to cut it and paint it so will be done in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks Miles

That gets the scenery aspect moving.
There is also gentle hill in  both games.
I have one cloth. The Sicily Geek Villain.
I believe Sean has a second cloth for the second game?

martin :)

Sean Clark

I do. Its 5x3. I can't remember if that's too big?

martin goddard

It is an unusual cloth.

5 feet by 2.5 feet.
Zones are 10"  by 6".

A one off, not the usual 5x3 in 6" squares.

martin :)

Colonel Kilgore

I have a numbered, custom handmade Weymouth tradesman's version that I can bring.

Simon

A cloth of wonder.
Maybe a bit of of scatter scenery too. Scrub and rock.

I can bring cloth and scenery
