There were no real cavalry in the AWI just dragoons etc. Does this make the game (AWI) more or less interesting?  i would expect Banistre Tarleton to chip in here if he is still alive.

Leslie BT

More interesting, and it saves you some masters to make.

Stewart 46A

It's still an exciting period with light troops, long rifles and indians

Colonel Kilgore

Perhaps the fact that there are "only" dragoons makes it rather more interesting than less i.e. the variety between unts and forces is somewhat more subtle than the "basic" infantry / cavalry / artillery of the (often larger and more formal) conventional black powder battles in the European theatre?

I hope that no-one's been complaining?

DorchesterBede

No not at all. The different quality and type of foot (light infantry, line , militia) and theaters all make for interesting games, the small scale and mix of uniforms also make it interesting to paint. I've always enjoyed a game of  Washington's Army, you have to look after your cavalry cos there won't be much.

Leman (Andy)

Well I'm going to beg to differ - I find it less interesting and much prefer Seven Years War Europe.

Leslie BT

The Seven Years War in India has a lot going for it as well.

Missed this thread first time around!

I think the lack of cavakry makes it a great period to game. There's just enough to make it interesting but not so much that it takes an age to paint up and dominate the type of game I like to play. One for two small units per side makes it interesting and adds some dash and elan!

Colonel Kilgore

Yup - there is a lot to be said for not having to paint up lots of horses!
