We stopped play testing SOL because PBI games filled evenings.  As AK is shorter, we will get SOL finished and into the next MILL.

I will send out the rules again next week for those interested.

Gosh, that was so long ago that I forget what the acronym stood for. Something about a sniper...?

Ah...!

Too many gamettes  ;)

I liked the last draft of this Western one that I played, which gave a very rapid but engaging game.

Too many gamettes? Never!  ;D

Looking forward to seeing this finished.

I wondered about having a scenic backdrop of two or three buildings on one piece of card to line the play area, looking a bit like the stage of a film set.

I'll see if I can knock one up!

I enjoyed playing SOL.
SOL has very simple play, so that the all important aspect of pace to simulate(a bit)  real life is kept.

I remember playing the SKIRMISH western wargame rules back in 1974 (50 years ago!) in which a written order had to be done for each 1 second of activity.

I am probably too impatient with slow wargames. I expect to making decisions and to be rolling dice constantly with the rules in my head. Others want the opposite. A "standard game" that lasts longer than 4 hours is beyond my interest span.

I'm not sure there's much appetite for 4 hour games anymore Martin.

I remember playing 15mm Napoleonics with a rule set called To the Sound of the Guns, where there were more tables than in the average Asda canteen.

Wargaming has moved on from written orders, 1 turn representing 2 minutes and bounce through sticks.

2-3 hours for a game with some chat, biscuits and lots of dice rolling do me just fine.

SOL, like other gamettes is a lovely 10-15 minute addendum to the end of an evening.

Maybe we could play a couple of different ones at WWW to round off the days activities?

I concur Sean
