How do you calculate "full bases lost" for units which start with a half base missing due to depletions?

Ie does such a unit suffer a full base lost when it looses the half base and becomes 2 bases strong or do you count it when it has lost 2 half bases? (Ie at 1.5 bases strong)?

From a practical point of view it's easier to count the full bases left at the end of the game and deduct these from 3 for Non skirmish units and 2 for skirmishers,, to give a total but it means depleted units can rack up victory points more easily!

Good question.

Here is what we do.

1. After the depletions, put any lost bases away in the soldier box. The army on table will have units with varying strengths which will include halfs.

2. At the game end just line up all the bases removed during the game.
Halves don't matter in any way whatsoever. Halfs should consist of  a pile of about 10  which come and go from the on table game as needed. They never contribute to victory point calculations.

3. Put the off table bases into 3 rows etc...

If players are allowed to do calculations with halfs then  life gets far too difficult.
The above usually works really well. Just keep players away from fiddling with halfs.

That sounds eminently sensible.
