Just wondering if the table size for the new edition will stay the same ? Also will the army book still be compatible with the new edition .Many thanks

Hello Alex

Very valid question indeed.
The intention would be no change in table size or army size.
Most current players seem to agree that most of SB works fine.
Some quickening of the pre-game might  happen.
SB games are quite quick so the events can probably remain in some form?  Probably a selection from them rather than 15 days to war.

In summary; you can use the same army and the same table size.

I see work being done on the objective positions, reinforcement arrivals, countdown  and pre-game. Only thoughts???

Many thanks Martin , pleased to hear that as  I've just ordered a new gridded mat 👌🏻

Agreed Alex, as these are far and away one of my favourite sets of rules, and the only one I currently use for the 1914/15 period. I also am limited to a 3' depth.

We enjoy playing Square Bashing and we use mainly 930 points per side.  We have been experimenting with larger armies but using 12 square frontage and experimenting with reserves entering the battlefield. We are thinking of playing larger games on a bigger board and this needs much more thought. We usually have two players a side at the moment.

But bear in mind that there are those of us who have smaller tables and not even one player per side, i.e. one player both sides. Then again, I could always take the position I have with Warhammer players: if you don't like edition 500 just keep playing edition 499 (and save a few bob)!

Then you need a rotating table Andy.
Just stay in your seat and rotate the table 180' each turn.
Does that help? :-[

Hi Martin,
The "lazy susan" approach to wargaming. :)

One of my mother's friends had a rotating Scrabble board, she was a very serious player of Scrabble.

I've also seen a model railway layout built on a rotating table, when the train speed matched the scenery speed it was like you were on the train and the scenery was going past.

Best wishes,
Martin from Grimsby

Those are both very intriguing concepts, Martin!

I like that railway thing. Relative motion.
I have an ACW railway game that is in a similar vein. The train stays stationary and the figures move.

But you do need to move the figures yourself, Martin, and make "choo-choo" noises  ;D

I will get it out for the WWW.
