I have now re-named the topic as "Berlin" so that we can all find it.
Do feel free to re-pit this if there are changes you need to make.
You have about 2 weeks.
I think we will get 8/9 players and run 4 tables.

Germans and Russians
Tentative.

Russians
1. Derek
2. John
3. Richard
4. Stewart

Germans
5. Simon
6. martin
7. Ben
8.Weymouth Mike

There is plenty of room for more than 8 players . I chose 8 as an achievable number.

I will put out some thoughts on the day later on.

Scenery set ups.
Normal European spring time scenery .

So those that have played the Factory game, will know that infantry and lots of them will win the day. This environment will eat into your men.
Some Panzerfausts and some Sachel charges will help especially in Assaults ! A flamethrower will also help !
Make sure you put as many Partials up against the buildings you're going to Assault! Then you not standing in the open if and when you fail.remember you win some you lose some?

I seem to recall that the idea was for 1 early war game followed by a late war game but this seem to have been overtaken by the concept of doing Berlin.

I take it from this that both games will be Berlin. In that case I take it Germans will defend in one and counter attack in the other.  How do we do the piggy chase in that case?  or have I got it wrong?

As flamethrowers are VERY useful for FIBUA (Fighting In Built Up Area) does that mean both Germans and Russians can, if wanted field and Engineer platoon as that seem to be the only way you can get them?

Follow on question if the answer is yes we can field an engineer platoon. - P 15 shows "0-2 demolition bases*.  These are riflemen with satchel charges."   Are these extra riflemen to the earlier mentioned 3 (1-3 LMG, rifle or SMG bases(any mix))

I know nothing about an early war game followed by a late war game.
Possibly an event that Miles or Stewart is organising for a later date?

The Berlin game was organised before any battle days were announced.

Am early and late war day might be a lot of fun. I await the details.

"Berlin" is a very thin veneer thrown over a day of normal PBI games.
The games will be normal in almost all respects.

1. Players will use the  exact same force for both games. No fine tuning.
2. Players will be either Russian or German but not both.1943-45 lists are all OK.
3. Berlin does not necessarily mean central built up Berlin. Players can choose any scenery they like.
4. Piggy chase, assets, architect  etc as per normal.
5. There might be a sprinkling of "glitter type" events as per the CK day.

Engineer platoons.
At the moment the engineer platoons are a general item available to all players.
The demolition bases will need a bit of work or deletion.

Having a maximum of 8 bases will make them less "tough" than normal platoons.
This might discourage their regular use?

I would like to see them used 1 in 7 games as a guide to my thinking.
If this becomes 1 in 3 then they are over represented.

As previously discussed here, I have now pointed up a German force with an engineer platoon to give it a try at the Berlin weekend.

I struggled a bit to balance things within the points as the engineer platoon is deliberately smaller. Btoadly I found I could go with three sub-maximum infantry platoons too, with weak armour, or two tougher platoons (maybe making all the infantry Veteran) and decent armour.

It is good to have 3 platoons each of 11 bases as they can take some punishment. The negoneer platoon might  do a lot of dame but can be sensitive to loses.

I shall bring a scenery set up.
John

martin goddard

That is very helpful.
Thank you John.

Do you need a cloth?

I suggest that in order to lighten your load  no need to bring 6 of each scenery type, just bring about 15 assorted pieces and get players to choose their 6 from those offered.
