I saw a link to this new 10-part adaptation of James Calvell's Shogun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAN5uspO_hk on TMP.

Looks good - but it doesn't seem that the Hulu platform is readily available outside the US.

Me too, and the book!

I look forward to this version in due course.

Its going to be on Disney+ Feb next year.

Been putting off getting that channel for a while now. Yet another reason to look at it again.

Ooh - that's good news, Derek. We got Disney+ when The Mandalorian first came out, and I've not managed to convince the family to cancel it since. Maybe I'll let it run until early 2024, then  :D

Maybe there will be excerpts at some point.

caught in a quandry right now. Been debating with myself about getting a pay-to view channel.  At the moment Amazon+ is leading as I really want to see the Lord of the Rings prequal but this is tempting. Can't afford more than one.  SO maybe free trial, binge watch and then cancel.

Anyway, will be in the New year so loads of time to procrastinate over it some more, maybe possibly!

I suspect that have a special action that stops people  getting a binge watch. They are crafty foxes.
Amazon is putting various things onto Freevee so that you have to endure adverts and also they are getting keen on "pay to download".

Best to buy a remote and go and stand outside someone else's house?

You can come round to our place and watch it over the kids' shoulders, Martin  :D

Has anyone seen this yet? I think the first episode came out in the UK last week.

Us reviews were very positive,  with Rotten Tomatoes giving it 98%. The UK newspapers seem similarly positive.

Can't wait to see it!

2 episodes came out . The first was a bit slow , the second was excellent .

They are releasing one a week (like the olden days) to avoid one month bingers

We watched the first episode tonight. As Simon C says, a little slow but a good start.

Looking forward to catching up with the rest once we get a free evening!

Me too! I thoroughly enjoyed the reboot... and the foul mouthed Rodrigues is great! Not as bombastic as John Rhys-Davies but more believably cuthroat. The new Father Alvito is not a patch on Damien Thomas though who exuded sheer poise and concealed menace behind a facade of quiet culture...
