Minairons' upcoming Age of Sail 1:600th scale model kit will be the Atakebune, a fearsome Japanese warship widely used during the convulse Sengoku Jidai and early Edo periods.
Atakebunes can be considered floating fortresses rather than true, seaworthy warships, so they were used mainly in coastal actions. Although provided with sails, they were actually powered by oars in combat - and we're going to foresee both propulsion methods, as it can be seen below.

We expect to release the Atakebune at some point this Summer.

What a marvellous original Lluis.
That will paint up really nicely.

Well played.

That is certainly a very different model - I look forward to seeing one painted up.

Very different looking, was it armed with cannons?

Atakebunes were intended for boarding actions mainly, relying on heavy musketry fire and ferocious hand-to-hand combat to overwhelm enemy ships.
They were armoured against musketry fire solely, while only lightly armed with cannons (2 or 4 at most); so they were no match against more powerful broadsides, such as the Korean ones.
