Carolingians have good cavalry and solid infantry.
They are weak on auxiliary's and bows.
Plenty of skirmshers.

Some thoughts on fighting
1. Create 2 zones of powerful cavalry, To make sure they win in a fight make them shock and veteran.
2. Consider a couple of units of cavalry armed with bows. Make them unarmoured to reduce the cost.
3. Close order infantry. Maybe have 5 units of levy AND 3 units of trained. They can form a lump about which the cavalry can hinge. Levy close order only cost 10 points per unit. Additionally levy might benefit from scenario and victory point considerations.

4. Central zone(s) of close order infantry. 3 units per zone with rear support. Make 2 units armoured if fighting a  shooty army.

5. Cavalry on the flank with the intention to charge early using advance tactic. Gt a quick start to the game.
