Battle of Zela

48/47 BC.
Zela is the town nearest the battlefield.
Julius Caesar beats a pike army.
Julius Caesar is the defender. Pharnaces (Pontic chap) is the attacker.
Caesar is initially pushed back up hill toward his own camp.
Then Caesar's reserves arrive on the table.
Caesar's army is a mixed of trained and veteran.
The Pontic army is a bit bigger  but not so trained as the Romans.

Outcome= Roman slaughtered the Pontics.
Both armies were surprised by the result.
Caesar had won the campaign in 5 days.

Caesar obviously had a very good fight rolls and the Pontic's levy let them down.

Hence his memorable  lines   "Veni, vidi, vici "
