It's time to think about games for the weekend.

I am planning a large 10/12 x 4ft western game to be played on the Sunday morning and afternoon.
Using Peter Pig western rules as a base for movement shooting but no point limit

Units
Army (average) foot
30 bases in fort all long shooters

Cavalry (average) mounted
4 units , 15 bases each long shooters

Wagon trains (raw)
10 bases foot (5 long shooters,5 pistol) 5 wagons

Miners (raw)
2 bases foot ,long shooter

Farmers (raw)
2 bases foot,long shooter

Town (raw)
30 bases foot,10 long shooter, 20 pistol

Indians (average shooters, veteran fighting)
All bow armed but some will have long shooters
Mix of mounted and foot not in same unit

15bases per unit
8 mounted units
4 foot units
Sequence of arrivals

House rules (mine) for wagon movements 2 squares open, 1 square any other terrain not allowed in rough hills

Basic plan

Rail track along one long edge

A town covering 1 1/2x 1 1/2 ft at one end of track

A gold mine (6" sq) along side other end of track

2 farm houses each 6" sq

A fort 12x12". Middle of long edge opposite the track

A range of hills and woods along side the track
More hills, woods around pod fort and town, farms

There will be 3 wagon trains, one each starting at the corners of short edge away from the town, 3rd wagon train can start on players choice of corner

OBJECTIVES

Red indians on the warpath
Indians get VPs for killing farmers, miners, wagons (1xD6 per item) capturing  the fort (4xD6)and town (3xD6)

Army
Escort farmers, miners wagon train to the fort no VPs
Escort farmers, miners, wagons to the town (1xD6 each)

Normal rules for units and casualties

I have all the above, players just need their lucky dice

I intend to be there and could do SCW, ACW, AWI, WW2. My preference would be SCW.

What?! I'd thought that maybe at some point this year we'd get down to just the one new ruleset being worked on at a given point in time... ::)

Simon

martin goddard

I think PBI will be done by November as it is 80% done already.
What could go wrong??

martin :)

Colonel Kilgore

November 2024 is indeed a long way off  ;)

Sean Clark

Where's your ambition Simon?!?

Martin has 9 months to release CK, work on and publish PBI 2023  AND write an entirely new set of rules and sculpt a range of figures for the War of Jenkins Ear.

Stewart, put me down for the War of Jenkins Ear. Failing that, maybe Mexico or Bloody Barons.

martin goddard

Your idea sounds good Stewart.
Maybe put the rules on this site for comment nearer the time so that all are familiar??

Hammerin Iron, CWB(especially as I never got to play CWB last year ?) and maybe a Western game ? Before Sundays big game ? Unless we have had some practice Westerns beforehand? AK47 can always be in the mix if enough people want to play ?

I may have a 'nostalgia' weekend, and bring down something like Abteilung which Martin still sells. Russian front I suspect.
