Two games today.

Game 1 = Sarmatians(defenders) versus Crusaders.  Sarmatians got slaughtered. The big head to head clash between the two cavalry zones causes lots of days among the shieldless sarmatians.

Game 2= Macedonians versus Scottish army(defender).  Scottish got slaughtered. The Scottish problem is taht half the   army was of table as being late at the game start.  Horror.  The Scots tried to hold the line but the pike blocks pushed through.

Very nice day out for John. Mike and martin.
Also I had a nice packet of salt an vinegar  crisps from the tuck shop

Martin summed it up well. The Crusaders were helped by two amazingly good dice rolls in assaults by the Knights Templar. In the second game the Scots had to risk seven units as depletions. All seven failed and started off table. None arrived at the end of the first turn and only one arrived at the end of the second turn.It hardly got better after that. I think they were still celebrating Burns Night.
A good day none the less. Sorry Derek missed it, but he did sound quite unwell.

These sound like good, decisive games. Which - even if the match-ups were not themselves exactly historical - is what we're generally looking for, I think?

After watching the rugby this weekend, I sort wished I'd should have come along...

They were good games with good players.
The games also looked good visually (scenery and painted armies of a good size), which is very important in my opinion.
Apart from on table tactic markers there was no junk on the table.  Marvellous.
