After some good games last weekend, my painting mojo has returned. I have mostly been working on some hooches for our Vietnam game at the Beachhead show in February.

Very nice paint job ! I like them very much.

How did you proceed (base colours, washes, etc.) ?

Many thanks Xavier. I used a series of washes and drybrushing, following Miles' coaching.

I'll produce a short article for The Mill, as I've learned a lot in the last year about these techniques!

In a nutshell I:
- block-painted the basic colours, using two different straw colours for the thatch
- applied 4 different thinned washes in blotches (light brown to black)
- dry-brushed in beige, green and grey
- used a very thin black wash all over
- applied a light dusting of sand

As Miles has taught me, you don't necessarily see all these colours in the final result, but need to go through such a process to achieve this "depth", which I like.

Thanks Les - I believe that you may have been behind the approach that Miles has been helping me learn :)
