I had intended painting mist of last night. In the end I managed 20 minutes so knocked out a couple of bases just to get my colours sorted.

One of these figures is an imposter from elsewhere. Can you spot him?

One base uses the older sculpts.

Might get some more time tonight.

Not bad for 20 minutes' work, Sean!

I can't work out where the figure clutching his upright rifle to his chest comes from, but no double you'll put me out of my misery?

He was from the original Moroccan pack. The rogue figure is actually a First World War Indian figure. I had a pack spare and on closer inspection I thought they look close enough to bulk out the figures I'd  already bought. The turban is very close to the Moroccan figures and they even have the gaiters. The bag hanging off the left hip is slightly different, and the coat is cut differently but otherwise they are a good fit if you don't look too closely. I doubt anyone will notice during a game 😀

Leman (Andy)

Looking very good. I particularly like the shading.

Finished my Moroccans  for Bayonets and Ideology. 3 tabors of infantry plus 2 HMGs. They'll  need to borrow an extra HMG from the Nationalist army. There are 5 bases of the old sculpts to use as extra bases.

Moroccans  can be veteran or regulars. If used as regulars They'll need to borrow a platoon of infantry from the Nationalists too should they choose an extra platoon of infantry.

These were very much painted with my 'Get them done' mantra. There are likely belts that have been missed, faces that have the skin colour spilled over onto the uniform and the basing is the easy to use 'Base Ready' from Geek Scenics.

Purchased: end of November
Finished: today.

Very nice Sean.

You're certainly living up to your new mantra!

Sean,
Well done. I must get my SCW / B&I forces painted.

Best wishes, Martin Buck

Pedantic note; your MG troops should be European, certainly in the early period, as should senior officers.
Moors could become junior officers and there's some indication they may have been allowed  to operate MGs towards the end of the war, but initially at least they were Spanish (although dressed as Moors and wearing tarbooshes, not turbans).

Neil,

I know the answer to this one. Sean only has one brown, so the officers and MG gunners are indeed European types, just heavily tanned  ;)

Very nice. I've just ordered Bob Corderys reference book on the SCW which has some uniform references in it.

I like the idea of some blue shirted  Falange, but lots of other things are also vyin for my attention. I have some spare Nationlists with which I could probably make up a single platoon to add to the Francoist cause.

Soany ideas, so little time!

A very good book....I'd forgotten I had it (!!) but you've unintentionally nudged me into digging it out. Thanks Sean 🙃
