At present bowmen suffer a -1 per unit when fighting.
I would like to try out the following.

Bow units in a fight

-1 one bow unit (same as at present)
-3 two bow units (one worse than at present)
-5 three bow units (two worse than present)

This will disadvantage  bowmen fighting.

Also
At present (since V1) bowmen with shields will count shielded in fights but shieldless when shot at. The logic being that whilst shooting they are busy shooting.
The new idea is that bowmen  (either whole zone or none) can claim shielded if they do not shoot in their own turn.
This will mainly help cavalry who are moving into a zone where they will be outbowed.

It is about getting the rules "right" rather than favouring/hating  any particular army or armies.
The intention is  that rule changes are about making the game better .

No one likes having their army not being the best,  I agree.

I am quite prepared for a whole pile of  "that's not fair" comments.
That has been the way with all RFCM ruleset developments and it will never change.

I think you are pushing it too far against bowmen though Martin.

I accept that My latest Army is Bow (Nubians). However, I always try to avoid having more than 1 bow unit in a zone when possible and am not bow AND shield equiped so these possibilities would not effect this army too much.

IF you wanted to drop the power of bow in fighting a little I would suggest restrict the max of bow effect to -2 dice, the same as pike.
