Point Effect Barrage

I know i was at an event only last weekend...but clear this up for me.

The hits on the square are D6...is that per unit or for the whole square? I think for the swuare but played a game tonight and someone said it should be per unit!

P39   says1d6 artillery hits are applied to each square.

So I have always played it per square NOT per unit!

I can see the confusion.
Good question.

However, D6 per unit would annihilate all the units.
The intention is D6 per square.
The point barrage is intended to affect morale and kill . These two effects are quite enough. Annihilation would make the  barrage a game winner I think.
