It's the Colours show at Newbury on Saturday, with Peter Pig in attendance.

I've just spotted that the organisers are making the event free for the general public this year, which is a nice little bonus.

I shall see you there. Will be working on Dave Lanchester's book stand.
John

Colonel Kilgore

Thought you would be, John. Save me some bargains!

Simon

Sean Clark

I'll be pitch side for Ava's first game of the new season. Grab a bargain Simon and let us know what you pick up!

John, have a good show. Make sure to take your slippers if you're on your feet all day.

Going for a quick visit, Ben unfortunately is digging ditches and mapping in North Yorkshire (he is not happy).

Quick visit from me as well. Managed to persuade the wife  while on our way to Devon for the week.

I'm going.  I'll keep an eye out for you all!

Richard

Martin Smith

I'll be there....supporting my nephew, who's running the DBA tournament on the 2nd floor..
Looks like a big trade turnout 👍🏼

Martin Smith

Sure I saw a floor plan with all the traders and demo's shown...and I cannot for the life of me remember where. Can anyone help?

Bankinista

Colonel Kilgore

Well done Bankinista - I certainly couldn't find that!

Looking forward to seeing the Piggy stand at B05 on the First Floor.

Sean Clark

Enjoy Colours chaps.

Anyone remember when this show was called 'Armageddon' and it had CND protesters turn up?

Colonel Kilgore

Nice to see Nigel and Martin at the Piggy stand, and John manning his bookstall.

Martin had a very nice MexRev participation table:

The PP stand was in a different place from normal, but a nice spacious pitch, I thought. And those new M113s are very nice in the flesh!

The Newbury organisers seemed to be doing a fine job today. Floor plans were handed out to all in the long queue that had formed by the 10am opening time, after which the inward flow was very rapid, due to no entrance money being taken this year (thanks chaps!).

Another very visible and positive change from previous years was the number of catering kiosks open, staffed and stocked, which was nice to see.

The two most striking demo tables for me were both in 3D. First, a sloping battle of Roundway Down:

And secondly the aerial (maybe seaborne later?) hypothetical invasion of Malta:

A Vietnam game was in the wrong scale and used the wrong rules, but was nevertheless done well (the Huey placed on a glass with scenery inside was a nice touch):

I picked up some very well-priced MDF bases from Pendraken, some Stynylrez primer and airbrush cleaner from the nice folk at Barwell UK Airbrush Supples as well as some WW2 fortifications from Last Man, Last Bullet. All in addition to my pre-ordered PP goodie bag, of course.

A nice show, but sadly just a whistle-stop tour due to other commitments today.

Sean, one year after a change of council a number of the normally used areas was closed and the club had to find other halls around Reading for some of the games.
