Game of ROF 4th August 1644

Royalists under the command of Big Mike and martin.
Parliamentarians under the command of Weymouth Mike and Stewart.

Parliament attacks.
Royalists had a nice array of hills and hedges to defend.
On the royalist left the cavalry charged , had a few fights and pushed the Parliamentary horse off the table.
On the Royalist right flank  They were beset with Parlaimnetary foote.
There were about 5 fights and the Royalists gave way.

The game ended with Royalist regiments holding the base edge but Parliament dominating most other places.

A big win for the Royalists.
Game took about 2.5 hours with some looking up of rules.

We did use Colin's CK markers as it made it much claere which unts were standing or assaulting.

Is Stewart experiencing a run of poor form? I'm  sure thats 2 games Ive heard he has lost this year. Thats not happened since 2006 according to my  detailed notes

I recognised Martin's game report apart from the result! Still very enjoyable.
ROF works well and captures the flavour of the period.
I chose the Late War Royalist army with 8 Horse to ensure a baggage raid, which happened but not quite as planned as Maurice disappeared with the veterans at the critical point in the game.
I also included 2 musket only foote units. These were commanded by Martin but were not favoured and took high losses.
As defenders we had plenty of scenery to defend but Stewart and Mike W  used Schwerpunkt to good effect on Martin's foote.

I'm not sure we deployed the scenery absolutely right but the rules were pretty well correctly used.
