Internet links that do not work

I expect it is quite common for websites and resources to disappear.

My recent experience with some sites that I visit (tractors etc) is that they are carrying  50% or more dead links.
It is a nuisance when the site refers to picture/diagram that is not there anymore(photo bucket etc).
This is a shame,  but exacerbated when those links have been taken over by "undesirable" sites.

Of course I  do contact them, but others without postal addresses are obviously dodgy so I steer clear of them.

Do dead links bother you much or not much?

They bother me when I come across them, but fortunately most of the farm tractor and monotone colour shade card sites I tend to frequent do not have too many of these.

Sadly this Forum has suffered from the Photo Bucket demise too.

I guess it's something we just have to get used to, and try to mitigate the effects of where possible. I now try to buy stuff when I see it, before I forget / can't find it anymore / the supplier goes out of business.

And also try to remember to download interesting reference material for posterity (although I am less good at doing that).

You can use the Wayback machine - it's reasonable good at finding 'offline' stuff

One particular forum I visit frequently has a fair few folk who post links incorrectly so that when you click on them nothing happens, and that is rather annoying, especially when they want you to visit their blog to view their latest painting project or battle report.
