Just got back from the workshop.
A short journey for me but I can get distracted on that journey. :-[

A couple of horse  blanks.
A pack of cowboy hat FM command (bugler and standard)
Collectable figure for Terry Shockey (Roman general)
Chimney

That's an eclectic assortment, Martin!
Are the horse blanks a) plain, dumb horses b) horses with especially blank expressions or c) particularly &*^*&^ awkward to sculpt horses???  ;)

You do like to keep us guessing with what is coming next, Martin!

Glad you don't seem to have got distracted too much by potential gardening tasks on the journey home  ;)

Good point about the horses.
The "blank" horses are made without saddle cloths etc so that I can build upon them. They consist of a horse fully sculpted with a pair of legs and body for the rider cast  on.
When i work on cavalry I can then animate the man's body with pliers etc. A soft metal will usually allow twisting and drilling  in of his arms.
Cavalry take  a long time to make as they are one piece.
Basic horse blanks allow a quicker build.
These two blanks are having a   good gallop. They are intended for several new projects.  Carolingians  being one of them.

Ah ha - that's sounding remarkably close to a commitment, Martin!

My new Osprey book is allegedly being delivered today...

I do fight shy of commitment to new stuff but it might help those  thinking about a new army?
I think there are already several ranges of Carolingians "out there".
What draws me to them is:-

They have normal length spears
No one (?)makes Carolingian cavalry actually fighting (spear forward)
They will fit into the dark ages range and refresh it.
There are  only a few troop types
I have 3 osprey books about them
Charlemagne is a significant person in history
There is a list for Carolingians in CK and longships.

etc.

It makes perfect sense to build up new figures in stages. I am familiar with the process from my summer job with a figure caster an age ago now.

Indeed Charlie Magnus and his cronies did get around a bit!

I look forward to seeing how these things shape up in the weeks ahead...

All excellent "draws", Martin!
