Hi, new here. Inspired by the beautiful figures shown in the RoF board I'm taking the plunge and building myself a Scots Army. I'm going for a generic army that can be fielded as Engagers, Montrose or any of the Covenant armies.

Possibly not looking forward to painting tartan (there seem to be some good painting tips in RoF), but I notice that the lowland pike aren't available open hand, nor are there any Highland pike. Is this likely to change in the near future?

Thanks and 👋

Martin

There seem to be a lot of Martin's, so maybe I should just be MartinS?

Welcome!! Tartan, less distinct, clan specific or set in stone before the Victorians decided it was cool....muted check colours, or no distinct pattern at all is probably equally valid.
Cheers

And yes, the figures you mentioned would be welcome - I'd be keen to replace my Scots (from Gladiator Games, overfed and enorrrrmous) with some true 15mm Peter Pig figures.

Hello namesake!

Is MartinS okay? Don't want to confuse anyone

John Watson

Perhaps if we called everybody Martin that would avoid confusion.

Welcome.

We need to find out why people are not called Martin or Simon (non conformists).
I usually use lower case m  (martin) or respond to the usual abuse.

martin :)

Hello Martin
Tartan isn't as hard as you think to paint. A good thin brush, slightly lighter colours than you want to put on and thin the paint down to make it flow, but not run away.

Hello Martin S,

From one of the Simons. But you can call me Martin if it makes things easier.

Welcome Martin S. This is quite a friendly place and most of us dont bite that often!

Probably the friendliest place on the internet. If some of us start to get a bit parochial, a lot of us know each other in real life, so just give us a poke if it starts to feel we are being clicky  :)

Regards

Sean, whose middle name is David. Makes me question whether I'm actually a wargamer with names like that.
