Panzerkampfwagen B2 (F) 740 Flammpanzer from the PP Char B1 kit

Stage 1 - Clean up

The pack contains six white metal pieces. Two tracks, hull, rear plate, turret and gun with mantlet.

To give the tracks something to hold onto I decided to fill in the void.  This would also give me some stability from any rough handling

With the packing in place a liberal application of milliput was applied to the hull and I also filled in the void areas at the rear of the tracks.  This should provide a surface to secure the track sections to the hull.  I also filled in any joins between the rear plate and the hull.

More to follow as this is now off to cure properly before sanding and the next mods

Interesting prep. work on the Char B1 - thanks for sharing your latest project, Si!

#3
Due to the restrictions in moulding the section around the gun is filled in. I need to remove the 75mm and replace the gun and fit a FT nozzle so I cut the whole block out.  I will replace the drive shaft with plastic rod later on

The tracks are just a little too long for the hull.  Nothing I can do to fix that other than position them so it is not too noticable at the front or rear.  Anyway.  Tracks on.

Bit of work last night after Rugby and first thing this morning.  Additional crew position added and the flame nozzle is in

All of the rear hull details removed to accommodate the fuel tank

Additional crew position added together with the extended armour plate

Not a brilliant picture but the cast around the flame nozzle being added by adding thin layers of liquid green stuff

Fuel tank on the printer at the moment so might have that added this afternoon

Enjoying the build  :)

So where will this be used - Normandy?

This is for Market Garden but can be used elsewhere

Fuel tank designed and printed. This is just a dry fit to check it looks okay. Will need a bit of filler to fit properly due to the tolerances in the metal from the sanding and fitting.

Not going to do any more to this now other than to add some stowage. Grey undercoat now on and then onto the painting and weathering stage once this cures overnight.

Colonel Kilgore

That's an interesting hybrid of traditional casting and 3D printing. I'm looking forward to seeing how this novel project turns out!

And some plasticard, and greenstuff and miliput....:)

The only pieces that are 3D printed is the fuel tank and the drive shaft.

Colonel Kilgore

Sorry Si - I didn't mean to belittle all the other materials and hard work that went into this unique model  ;)

No offence taken.

The cupola taken off and needs to be replaced with two simple hatches.

Shadow added to the track edges

I need to go back and clean up the rear plate and get rid of the support marks

spam nearly over. Base coat on and the revised turret for the simplified hatch layout used by 224. Now in the airing cupboard curing.

Enjoyed watching the transformation, some nice modelling skill used.
