martin (Parthians)  versus Chris (Ghaznavids).

Two armies , well met, both with a lot of cavalry.

The Ghaznavids had no armour at all. Plenty of proper foot units.
The Parthians had a 6 units of armoured cavalry plus a whole bag of skirmishers . levy etc.

The game ended in a draw.
The central thrust by the Parthian armoured cavalry (cataphracts) smashed a hole. The Parthians then got a bit sucked in. The opposing flanks just looked at each other for a long long time. This was because the hills encouraged a stand off.

Notes
1. The Parthian armoured horse saved really easily, but did  lose men when pursuit was applied. That worked well.
2. I am thinking of using the fight re-roll from BB because fights are very important to the players.
3. Skirmishers might be  working too well in casualty absorption. This is because no casualty markers are placed for killed skirmishers.
4. Elephants. To be tinkered with.
5. Shooting seems about right.
6. General no longer joins units and changes their  quality.
7.Ambush has not been used yet. I will try it out soon.
8. Scenery.Seems about right?

Overall it was a most enjoyable game. "No fussing, just fighting". Therefore it is moving in the wanted direction.

CK19 soon.

Yes an interesting game.

Skirmishers absorbing a lot of casualties is pretty much how it should work in that armies tended to counter each others light troops out. Perhaps more points for losing a whole unit would encourage players to withdraw them once they become too brittle.

Re rolling the fights went well, there may be some complication in the re rolls when the fight dice are brought up to the five minimum.

Elephants ? Perhaps class them as shock troops in a fight? Should be protected by light troops so if no lights in the square first two hits from missiles are on the elephant?

Yes, but with only a couple of half bases to play with they are easy to lose very quickly. Those points for lost units rack up quite quickly! Sometimes it may be better to withdraw them a row and gain the rear support bonus in the fight.

Need 4 bases for that bonus and 1 full strength unit can provide only 3 so a damaged skirmisher unit can be worth more that way than leaving it in the "battle" zone to absorb another hit then give the opponent a lost unit point.
