Will the new CK allow for coverage for the MESO-AMERICAN region - Aztec's, Maya etc. It's not an area covered well by a lot of ancient games and I have been eyeing up some 15mm figs so thought I would ask. :)

Good question Mark
I know very very little about those early American armies.
CK is pretty general in terms of army behaviour. it is not weapon focussed but tactically focussed.

If you decide what the scenery would be like then that is stage 1.
Stage 2 is to determine whether they fought as "stand up " armies of whether they were large raiding parties. i.e was there a time at which two forces of 3000+ men faced each other?
Stage 3 are you going to allow out of synch American armies fight each other.

Maybe create an article for the MILL  Mark.  A practical wargamer's guide rather than a tome on theory?

Good luck

martin :)

PS I assume post battle ther will be large scale slaughter and slave making.

From my albeit limited knowledge of Aztec and Mayan warfare it was primarily a means to exert political control and control resources. Subjugating neighbours to exact tribute and gain political dominance. Prestige for warriors and generals was an important factor. Including a reward mechanism for number of enemies subdued, territories taken over and tribute exacted would seem to be the order of the day for any rules over and above the actual fighting.
There is a school of thought that believes a driver for warfare in the region was earthquake activity that periodically damaged irrigation systems and created pressure on food resources.

Probably more raid/attrition than battle Neil.
Maybe a campaign /skirmish set would best reflect these wars?
