BAW Quick Sheet Redux?

Hello, all
This is my first post to the forum.
A friend and I picked up the BAW rules and we've poured through them excitedly. I really like them. There's lots of period "flavour" some interesting mechanics. Although we're still building and painting our armies, we'd like to try to play a few games with just labeled bases.

I have to say, though, we've found the Quick Sheet to be somewhat chaotic and confusing in terms of the order of presentation of phases of gameplay. Has anyone endeavored to reorganize the various elements into a sequence that better follows the order of a turn of play?
Cheers,
Brent

Hi Brent

Cant help with the question as not either a period I do or a ruleset I have played.

I have however converted 2 rulesets from here (AK47 and C&K) to play solo on a magnetic whiteboard (due to lack of space) so am happy to help with any questions you may have on this front.

Always good to see new faces on the boards so welcome to the Chaotic world know as RFCM!

Enjoy

I think this was something mentioned byittle Wars TV. I have to say having played the game ever since it came out that I'm used to the one we have.

I remember someone redesigning the old PBI aysheet and proudly thrusting one in my hands at an event a good few years ago. I couldn't make head nor tail of it  ;D

If you do redesign it please share.

And most importantly of all, welcome to the forum. We are a friendly bunch. We can sometimes come over as a tad parochial as most of us know each other in real life, but please feel free to tell us so. We want this forum to be as friendly and welcoming as possible.

All the best

Thank you for the kind welcome.
I´ll endeavor to rework the Quick Sheets to make them a little more intuitive. I´ll share what I come up with.
Martin Goddard, would you be willing to share the quick-sheets file with me as a Word document? That would make them significantly easier to work with.
Cheers,
Brent

Hello Brent
The BAW playsheet can probably be improved I am sure.
The limitation is that it is just two sides of A4.
An RFCM self imposed standard i will admit.
More than two sides of playsheet and a battle sheet is far too much clutter in more ways than one.

The challenge is getting all that information at a readable point size on two sides of A4/letter. :-\

The order can be changed easily if more than 2 sides of A4 are used.
It then becomes more than a one piece quick sheet though.

The BAW sheet is a PUBLISHER file.
It is not available for sharing

I do wish you success with the project Brent.  Players will be grateful if you can make it better and i will certainly/gratefully  put it up for free (if you are wiling to do the hard work) on the PP website as I do for all PP playsheets.

best wishes

martin :)

Okay. I´ll have a go at it, and I´ll share it if I´m happy with what I come up with.

Hi, folks.
So here is my first draft of an alternate version of the Quicksheet. I've reorganized and reformatted with the goal of placing information in the order of turn sequence. I've made a few minor edits to wording and resolved a few abbreviations.
Please have a look and let me know if you have any corrections or suggestions.

Good work Brent.
What font point size have you used?
You need to check the bottom section on morale with the 5,6,7,8 fails

nice one Brent.

I am a big fan of the colour in the PP battle sheets. i think it helps with focusing in on the section that is needed, helps clears out the traffic in the brain.

Thanks for the comment, Julian. I´ll see about adding some background colours.

Hi, Martin.
I used 10pt font for the bulk of the text, with larger font for the section Headers.
I´ll double check that Morale section. Thanks for the heads-up.

Here is another version of the Quick Reference Sheet with coloured sections and Cambria font

Julian,
It may be a bit gauche to say so on this forum, but we'll be playing BAW at 6mm scale. We just wanted a look that had a more epic sweep to it. We're not changing measurements or anything, just putting more figures on a standard base.
Cheers,
Brent
