So with the success of the AK47 day, organised by Sean, what events are people hoping to see put on or are looking to organise for the upcoming year 2022?

Be nice to see some wargaming days appearing on the horizon.

Well, we're going to do Crete - at Beachhead as a demo game on each of the two days and then hope to have a proper game day at Entoyment in May.

If there's enough enthusiasm (and time in the calendar...), several of us have already been discussing a Vietnam day.

I am always up for soem gaming. :)

Fancy a bit of Vietnam though.

I'm up for some Nam. Hope to have at least one side of ACW painted up before too long so hope to get together with Julian on occasion for this.

Not seen any movement on the fantasy or Samurai systems that I can recall. Anyone still do them?

I was thinking of a fantasy army (without magic or mythical creatures) that I could dual use for C&K but not sure.

WAM (War in the game of magic) shares the same genes as CK. There are several differences though.  One ,is that major creatures and magicans have their own personal punch at adjacent squares.
The other is the use of fantasy scenery.

If CK gets sorted then WAM will be an easy re-write.

As for samurai. I have not played it in years. We did have a  competition games day of samurai  some years ago.

I have two armies , table and scenery .

A CWB day would be good.

do you have enough for 2 sides and free this Saterday John?

Vietnam and ACW sound good. Be good to do a multi tabled game of a particular theme such as Gettysburg, or Hue.

Ben and I hopefully will be heading to the 'Volga for a dance with aunty Olga', with Stalingrad and Barbarossa theme based games. Mr Law will be sniping away somewhere.

2022 could be a good return for the dice!

Derek I have enough for about 4 sides! However I won't be Available this weekend. Off up north. Lincoln, Manchester and the Peak District. Will have to be a little later.

. The Samurai day is the event where I came 14th out of 10 players. Its a great system and one that the late Rob Roriston enjoyed. I think it was the last game I played with him at the weekender.

Systems we generally have ran days for previously are:

Multiple times
PBI
Civil War Battles
Squarebashing

At least once
Western
Patrols in the Sudan
Samurai/Battles in the Age of War
Washingtons Army
Bloody Barons
Longships/Vikings
Ak47

Games I can't recall us having a games day for, though that maybe because I missed it!

Regiment of Foote
Pieces of Eight
Vietnam
Hammerin Iron
Bayonets and Ideology/SCW

Three things are essential for a game day.

1. Enough people have armies for the relevant rules, or else there are enough armies amongst members to share around.

2. At least 4 people commit to attend. I say 4 because it gives the option of ayers playing a different opponent over the course of 2 games (3 if there is time!) or else a doubles game in the afternoon.

3. A suitable venue can be found to attract people from as wide a field as possible. Entoyment is a wonderful venue, and I am always willing to travel and avail myself of the facilities at chez Goddard, Meecham or Milton. However not everyone is willing to make the 420 mile round trip that I do.

Battlefield Hobbies is a more central location, but does mean a very early start for those on the south coast which is the epicentre of players of these games.

Other venues have been used in the past, such as the pub in Yeovil, the school Big Mike used for the Ardennes mega game and the old Portbury venue in Bristol for PBI. But the modern gaming stores with lots of gaming space are now the preferred location due to available facilities.

I believe there is one in Bristol called BIG gaming with sufficient tables. But I expect that the majority of our gaming days will take place at Entoyment when the majority of players live close to.

For me, these days are now the epitome of my wargaming. Playing 2 games with friends in a comfortable environment are what I enjoy about this hobby and long may that continue.

I'd travel for any of these games, but would especially like to see Vietnam, CWB and a RCW Squarebashing themed day. Simon C was looking at arranging one of these just as the pandemic struck.

Looking forward to Crete immensely. Have my German FJ company to paint. And of course Mexico is coming online soon too, so that can be added into the mix.

And if we ever see a rumoured Robin Hood style game surface, I'll be the first in my green tights with a feather in my hat.

We will make this happen.

I am available most days subject to work and have at least 2 armies/forces/factions, mat and scenery  for all Peter Pig games apart from WAM (don't like their music)

Is it worth trying to pencil in some rough time scales - for some gaming days 2022, allowing for gathering figures/scenery, painting and basing? It is a time consuming process for most.

So far Simon has : February & May Crete:

Not trying to organise any schedules, just get the chatter going.

individuals should organise a  venue, date and the period they want to game

put the idea out there and see who wants to commit.

for my part the Weymouth weekend will be later 1/2 of November , a weekend that hopefully won't conflict with a wargames show.
