I'm just touting for dates now for next years event while the iron is hot. So theme wise it will will be late war'ish to align with the Cambrai event in the summer, so people without armies can organise, and use for both.

Dates I had in mind are May or June 2017 . Here are the weekends , please comment so I can work out which is best for you all
6-7th May
13-14th May

20-21st May - Partizan
27-28th May - Fisticuffs
3-4th June    - Games Expo / BHGS challenge
10-11th June
17-18th June

24th June

If there is enough interest perhaps we could look at a 2 day event

I am busy on the 6th May.
13/14th is the date of Dave Hutchby's do at Derby club so pretty close for all.  I will ask him if he has any space.
21st is Partizan
27/28th OK
3rd/4th is the Challenge but I an probably NOT going.
June dates are OK, 18th is my Birthday so I can getaway with that weekend.

Simon,

17 June is the St Helen's show Phalanx I believe.   It would not make any difference to me but I thought I would mention it in case others were regulars at that show.  I think there is is a also a Campaign show in Milton Keynes in the first two weeks of May?

Re the event being two days rather than one, I wonder if a two-day commitment might be difficult for some.  Perhaps it could be set up as an option to enter for one ot both days?  Personally, I would prefer one day.

I'd second Simon (Mk. III)'s view re. number of days: I'd find it much easier to be AWOL for one than 2.

There's also the cost of overnight stays etc. to be factored in, since wherever we hold any event, quite a few folk are likely to be travelling some distance.

That said, if some folk can make 2 days and they're happy for others of us to pop by just for one, then that could work too.

Simon, at least 4 players from Weymouth area will travel up depending on the date

Colonel Kilgore

I'm currently OK for any of the dates proposed, with a preference for a Saturday.

Thanks for doing the organisation. Probably 4 or so from weymouth as Stewart says. One day preferred by me. June is fine.  Don't forget that you are supposed to be assaulting France on the 6th, or had you forgotten the secret attack. i have two late war armies if you need spares for the day

thanks

I have 4 armies, British, French, German and Cossack with an armoured train also can supply a complete table of terrain and objectives.
I also have a trench line and a fortress if anybody wants to have a game with a difference.

Simon

Simon,

At the moment I could do any of the days, Saturdays preferred but happy for a Sunday if the is the majority leaning.  I am planning to organise a DBA tournament in Bakewell around the same time so, from a purely selfish perspective, the sooner the date is finalised the better for me!

Thanks for setting this up.

At the moment it looking to be late in June , 1 day Sat ... with a 1917 theme .

If we can get 8+ players then I'll try to make it team pairs , one central powers one allies.. As before ... to give it a bit of structure

Colonel Kilgore

Excellent - I may even have my 1917 Brits painted by then.

I have taken the plunge after last weekend's Square Bashing day, and am going to give the "speed-painting" approach that has been so well illustrated here a bash.

I have been good, so Santa is bringing me a Late Wat British army, excellent for our Cambrai day next year.

Excellent - thank you Simon!

That will very much help focus the mind and painting schedule between now and then.
