So excited today when the postie pressed the door bell. This is one of those rule books to treasure, so nicely laid out in full colour.

Colonel Kilgore

It is indeed a nice book - I do like the photos. Makes you want to start playing immediately!

Julian,

I think those of us who bought into the kickstarter paid a little more, but they're now available to UK customers at £27.50 a pop (rules + cards), here:

That looks an expensive production. How much does it cost ?

30 Brit Pounds, but that also includes 110 good quality playing cards.  That's fantastic value.

Sean Clark

There's a card missing though, apparently 😔

Hopefully it's the 600 Indian one

Sean Clark

It's on the Facebook page,

"B troop arrived to Italy!
I just checked the cards:
I've got 4 instead of 3 "Ambush 40 Hostiles (Scouts prevent) " but I'm missing the 1 "Ambush 40 Hostiles (Scouts prevent)  OR TRAIN".  Total 110 like others.
Anyone like me?"

Peter Berry's reply...
" I've double checked, and apologies folks, this has slipped through.  We had to lose some of the cards from the origianl deck as there were too many for the printer's setup.  This get more complicated than you might think and it looks like this error got through.   It really should not affect game play as such and if you wish it is a simple matter to add the Train to one of the existing cards.   There were four of us proof reading and checking these rules and it managed to get by all of us!"

Colonel Kilgore

Whoops - that's a bit of a mistake. Thanks for sharing, Sean.

Moggy

Haven't done much more than a cursory look so far. Too many other things on the go.

Me too Derek. I can't honestly see me ever playing them, it was a bit of an impulse buy!

Moggy

I think this may well have to come down in scale a bit for me to play solo or in club.  I have a load of "old(30 years old)" 6mm stuff that I may well do it with and come down to cm=inches or something.  Outside of an organised meet like WWW I think it will hard to find number/space/figures/time?

Apart from that this may well be one of those things that could have been best left in memory alongside such great computer games as "Pack-man", "Donkey-Kong" and "Space Invaders". Already have some doubts over speed of play for the percentage to hit side of things.

I will, however, be glad to admit to being wrong. This is a labour of love and admiration for a lost gamer so is worthy in its won right. Even if the game ends up being "hard work" I will still be glad for the purchase.

I'm going hard core with this game.  It's totally captured my attention.  But I'm still not buying 600 Indians.

Leman (Andy)

It does seem an awful lot, but why not do what some other games do and feed casualties back into the game. Pretty sure all 600 would not charge in at once. Even the warrior tribes had a sense of tactics.

Colonel Kilgore

One big base + one mounted Indian on top (or maybe push the boat out and do a whole pack?) + three x '1-10' Warbase dials on top (for hundreds, tens and units) should do the job?
