Struggling a bit with some Cossacks,Mainly in getting the mojo to paint them,As irregulars there are a lot of different colours, So tonight after a bottle of wine decided to spray the main coat colour after a black undercoat. So divided up mixed figures into 8 groups of 8 or 9 each and went outside to spray them. It`s totally dark out there but very warm. All are done but will look tomorrow to see if paint is OK.
Seemed like a good idea at the time as painting coat colours was taking a long time.I do have a floodlight out there but as the years have taken their toll on my eyes I have no idea what they look like.

Anyway--time to bring them indoors and go to bed.

More to follow--------------Maybe.

I'd just have another bottle of wine, Terry - I'm sure they'll look fabulous then. Or you'll be past caring. Either way, it's a win  ;)

Do you loose any figure detail spraying that thick goopy Army Painter spray on them?

@ Paul, That is what I am worried about-----Army painter on top of Army painter black primer.

Going to check them now. Hope they dont look like Michelin men.

Addendum.

They are all fine. 1 or 2 a bit of detail covered but generally well pleased.

Army Painter spray is different to most other aerosols and reading the instructions really helps.

You have to spray a lot closer to the figures than you do with Halford or similar. The paint dries very quickly on leaving the can, so if youre too far away, the paint will start to dry before it hits the figure. This leaves a lumpy consistency of paint.

Because it is somewhat thicker than other aerosol paint, Army Painter recommend short sharp bursts of spray, moving quickly backwards and forwards across the figure from around 4"/10cm.

The first time I used them, I messed up and the results were horrible. Now though I'm very happy. I don't black undercoat first, I'll just spray the desired colour directly onto the figure.

For my People's Popular Front AK army, I'm planning on spraying the regulars in green and the Militia in brown, before adding some details and then washing. I've a day off tomorrow so intend to see how quickly I can paint 2 units of Militia and 1 of regulars. I'll spray the armoured cars green too. The Toyotas I'll spray in batches of two or three colours.

I may get the army done in a day ready to take to Weymouth on Friday!

You've got to love an optimist! Thanks for posting that useful piece of info Sean.
