Township ready to take side.....or not

They are a little low for my tastes. I think they are probably 12 or 10mm scale but never having seen a shanty town in real life.............

Maybe  a Julie Andrews figure should feature as a collectible?
Christopher Plummer in lederhosen?

If you're going to do a figure for the day ? a Roger Moore type figure or at least a Mercenary in a suitable pose ? That would be very nice Please ?
For my Mansion house I ve found some very nice late 90's "expensive cars" to go outside. I just need a Tennis Court ?
A question for Martin?
What would be an acceptable size of 1 template please ? Or another way the biggest you can make 1 Template piece before it becomes a Double ? What is the official sizes please ?
As I will need to put my Mansion onto a Template.( so I can set it into a front drive ) the back Garden would have to be a separate template piece, with sports facilities?
The old days it use to be 5 x 8 inches (A5) then I think (Reloaded)it then matched up with the newer games 12 x 6. But if Martin could have the final say on this please ? Then we can start this new era of AK47 all singing from the same book, so to speak....

Miles,

Reloaded templates are 8"x6", with leeway of 1". I take this to be on either axis and can be both. So the largest template would be 9"x7", the smallest 7"x5".

Technically a double template could be 9"x14", or 18"x7". I've no real experience though of having such big templates, and maybe the maximum for a double template should be rules as written, so 8"x12" or 16"x6"?

Having said all this, I really don't want to get too prescriptive. Big Mike is looking at building an airfield. Whether that is one template or a double template, it doesn't matter because it will look excellent. It will be placed as per the rules, or however the two players choose when they sit at their table. If they mutually agree that it should be slap bang in the middle of the table, then that's fine by me.

I'll stress two points. The AK Day is not a competition. There is no prize for coming first. Secondly, the emphasis is on fun. I want all players to have two great games of AK47 win or lose. So long as both players are happy with how the game is played, I'm happy.

Sean you will need the wooden spoon.  Not sure who has it at the moment, perhaps Martin can remember!

Good to see that you will have the special dice Sean to decide any disputes, roll high or roll low and you have the decision!!

I ve got mounted trophies for 1st, 2 nd and wooden spoon. The first 2 are PBI related and the wooden spoon well it's the wooden spoon. Me and Colin made them up so they could be in photos of the event.

I ve just read the rules on the scenery templates. Yes A5 size. My Mansion just fits on A4 size piece of paper so will be on a double sized template then.
I think we are going to need some ideas on what you want as a table ? Because I am going to have to build something around my Mansion ? Plantation or a Mine ?(but that one is already in use ) Or Other houses or an industrial area ?

Miles,

Let your imagination run wild. I have no requirements at all. So long as the scenery is in fitting with the period and the rules, I don't mind. Plantations, tennis courts, mines, airfields all sounds great.

There are two scenarios here. Either someone brings enough scenery to share with his opponent enabling a theme to be created for the table, or players bring along 7 pieces and mixes them with his opponent as stipulated in the rules.

If someone has gone to the trouble of bringing their own scenery, they should be allowed to use it. We won't be using fixed scenery tables.

I am hoping that I'll be able to match players up so both scenarios are covered. If you don't have scenery, then I'll match you up with someone who has a whole tables worth.

If you do, likewise I'll put you with someone who has bought their own 7 pieces.

It's a bit 'chaos theory' at the moment, but I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with.

Big Mike

Sean,
All is crystal clear. I will press on.

Having reviewed the terrain rules I think I will use a mining facility as a theme.
Buildings are relatively easy a double of the mine-top buildings plus two single templates of storage and accommodation buildings,
Hills (both types) are product (coal or ore),
Rocky outcrops are spoil heaps,
Rough ground is also spoil but scattered around maybe with some discarded machinery,
Gully is a mine trench,
Walls are walls.
Marsh is waste water or a "sediment" type pond.

The only one I haven't thought of anything for is Woods.

Best wishes,

The woods are the bits they have yet to "Destroy" sorry dig up !
Slag beeps are great to make up, you can try so many painting techniques out and nobody can say you didn't do that right ?  It's a heap of crap and waste ! How is it meant to look ?
So let's get this right if someone brings a whole tables worth of terrain then they could "theme" it ? Of course there's no guarantee that everything will be in the right place ? After Set up....

Miles, I'm not sure about doing a whole table of terrain, I was thinking of doing around ten pieces and choosing seven from them. I'll have to see how building it goes. I do have an army to paint too, some new figures and some repaints.

Julian, I have one or two of these trucks which are missing the plough I was thinking of using. They are Scammell Mountainer trucks issued by Matchbox as "Scammell Snow Plough" from 1963 to 68 scale is 1:109 which is near enough for wargamers.

Best wishes,
