At 2pm today i listened to a short BBC radio 4 program about 1916. Verdun.   It is available as an iplayer "play again" type thing too. The interesting thing was the french infantry comments on the battle.  Very interesting indeed. Of note is the72 hour barrage and the "sacred road". I am going to try some more in this series.
