Presenting my first painted ship for Pieces of Eight, the Saint Maria. My God bless all who sail in her.

What a beautiful ship !

I like the way it is painted... Superb work !!

Big Mike

Sean, nice touch to display the ship on the HP laptop - both cutting edge technology of their age.
My local broadband is also susceptible to adverse weather conditions.

You're a man of taste Mike to recognise the lengths I go to to ensure historical accuracy 😁

Great stuff Sean, these models of Martins are such good sculpts that the painting just becomes a pleasure.

Have you any flags and pennons for your ships?

Sean Clark

Not yet. I've spent this morning digging out all of my unpainted figures and finding the half a dozen ships I own.

Any recommendations?

Colonel Kilgore

Lluis at Minairons has made some great flags.

Another boost for flags from Minairons, they look excellent, Lluis put them on all my ships that he painted for me.

Sean, I think the photos of my ships are on this site.

Nice work, Sean.
I like her weathered look, I find it most appropriate to a hard working merchant ship.

I've always found weathering great for covering up a multitude of sins!

I've changed my strategy on painting my ships and sprayed them all white. I've them used a mix of contrast paints and washes. Far happier with the brighter look of them.

Also really speedy to get to this stage before going in on each ship individually with the detailing.

Leslie BT

Like your tidy work space Sean, yes the washes do make finishing a white under coated model so much easier.
It helps to show the excellent sculpting that Martin has put into these models.
